Thinkpad W700ds (2757-CTO, 2009), everything working fine even the most unusual dual-screen (but I have another one with an idential screen that for some unknown reason won't display properly in Linux, tried several distros) NVidia driver handles it without problem. Here's the inxi -Fxxx -z while still running a bunch of stuff:

currently using DVD in the ultra-bay but also works with extra SATA HDD/SSD that I swap in when I back up files. MX 17.1 having the MX Tweak tool option for auto-mounting of internal drives is particularly helpful with a machine like this with multiple hard drives!

Thinkpad W500 (4058-CTO, 2009). Fresh install, works great, unlike some other Linux distros MX can do dual booting properly (with WinXP in this case), inxi however doesn't show all of the partitions, there's a 2tb HDD with a 512gb partition for WinXP and a 1tb NTFS shared Data partition to exchange legacy Windows and modern Linux data.

Thinkpad 600x 2646-8EU 2000 (with special 850MHz CPU upgrade). Running MX 16.1 on this one because of the Graphics and Audio problems with MX17.1 --- Graphics colors are kinda inverted and Audio doesn't work out-of-the-box, but I did eventually find solutions with AntiX 17.1 (antiX 16.x works fine) just have to test them to see if they'll fix MX17.1 also (details later).

Wi-Fi, not good on this ancient machine, can use a USB dongle or maybe PCMCIA but slow so use PCMCIA Ethernet and it's only 10/100, usually get 92-ish on that.

Thinkpad 600x 2645-5FU 2000 . This one is running antiX-171-core mainly for cli but added a basic gui crutch for some stuff while I learn more cli. Graphics and Audio problems with Thinkpad 600x took some fixing (meaning to try same on MX 17.1 but haven't got around to it yet).

Graphics: inverted color problem (fixed on antiX Core but not Base?!). My rough notes say: installed xcalib (0.8.dfsgl-2+b2), xcalib -invert -screen (or xcalib -i -s)?, installed mesa-utils (8.3.0-3) (because it included glxinfo), removed all xserver-xorg-video except for xserver-xorg-video-neomagic (1.29.1+b2), xf-86-video-vesa, xf86-neomagic, xorg.conf in /etc/x11 change color depth from 24- to 16-bit. Have to try again with better notes to see what actually fixed it and why it only worked on Core and not Base and to see if will work with MX-17.1.

Audio: no sound. my rough notes say: installed alsa-utils, alsa-firmware-loaders, alsa-tools-gui. Debian wiki.debian.org/snd-46xx --> ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/firmware ... 28.tar.bz2, extract, copy/paste /lib/firmware/cs46xx , sudo modprobe -r snd-cs46xx, sudo modprobe snd-cs46xx . Again, I'll have to try again with better notes to see what actually fixed it and see if will work with MX-17.1.

Maybe the upcoming antiX-18 will fix these issues before I get around to getting them to work with MX17.1, whatever the problems are it worked fine out-of-the-box in antiX/MX 16.x and earlier (MX 14-4 and 16.1 are running just fine, and I had antiX on it earlier and it worked fine but I wanted to get the antiX-cli-cc from 17 if I was going to use cli so I uninstalled the 16.x). Thinkpad 600x is a really old computer 18+ years so not surprising that there might be some problems with really old hardware on the newer iterations of Linux. I almost gave up on it before stubbornly fiddling around with these fixes to try to get it working. More work to fix this for MX 17.1 or someone who actually knows what they're doing to tell me what part of this actually made it work.

Thinkpad A31p 2653-R4U 2003. Works great one, of the best old machines. Few minor things still to test: floppies (ran into issue with DOSBox installs using a usb floppy on another machine, so have to test properly on various Thinkpads), zip disks, superdisks (so much can be done with the unparalleled dual ultra-bays, they just don't make 'em like this beautiful machine!).

Hard drive using 128gb mSATA SSD with the highly recommended Aleratec IDE/PATA Adapter (Micron, Crucial, Plextor, Samsung, tried a few they all work great with this!), otherwise use the fastest IDE/PATA HDD 160gb Samsung HM160HC for A31p (which I swap to use with Windows 2000 SP4). Have to test bigger mSATA SSDs to see how much BIOS (or whatever limits it) can handle 256gb Samsung worked but only tested it briefly. Edit: 500gb mSATA working great dual-booting antiX and MX (1gb mSATA didn't work).

Wi-Fi internal works (sorta) but doesn't see my cable modem although it sees others, can work with slow USB wi-fi but I just use Ethernet, next time I open it up I'll try a different wi-Fi card...

XFCE makes using the extra column of shortcut keys easy just assigning shortcuts to these very useful (yet another thing that makes the A31p one of the best Thinkpads of all time and antiX/MX make it still useable even on the internet not just for legacy offline stuff)!

This is the standard stock T43p with an IDE/PATA Hard Drive that most people are likely to have. The WD3200BEVE is the biggest it can handle (the fast Samsung 160gb mentioned with the A31p is also a great choice for this machine). If one uses either an Aleratec mSATA PATA/IDE adapter (I don't on T43p, too many conversions with SATA-PATA-SATA) or is fortunate enough to have an unofficial hardware modified direct SATA version (T43pS like the famous RBS mods!) SATA HDDs or SSDs can be used, even the coveted rare SLC ones, or there's a rare few PATA/IDE SSDs you could use in a stock T43p.

Wi-Fi works but slow on my network with this machine (some other models of T43p have better cards), next time I open it up I'll put in a better card, usually just use gigabit ethernet with T43p.

Thinkpad T60p 2007-WLY 2007. Works just fine with MX17.1.

First of the Lenovo Thinkpads (albeit with a lot of the classic IBM legacy still intact) big jump from T43p with Dual-Core CPUs and full native SATA for the HDD/SSD -- up to a whopping 2TB, a Firecuda Hybrid HDD or a Crucial MX SSD is a good choice here (been meaning to upgrade this one). Also a significant transition period between the last 32-bit and first 64-bit Thinkpad models (this particular model has 64-bit CPU, but most only have 32-bit, thus for consistency I have 32-bit antiX/MX installed on all of my T60p models) but still have the classic gorgeous and usefully huge 4:3 up to UXGA screens, anyone that thinks 32-bit computing is dead and not useful doesn't have high-end 32-bit Thinkpads, still very useful and antiX and MX thankfully keep the 32-bit alive!

Thinkpad x60 tablet (aka x60t) 6363-C7U 2007.

Like the larger T60p this is a transition period with dual-core cpus and SATA HDDs/SSDs as well as between 32-bit and 64-bit CPUs, this time I only have one model and it's 64-bit and since it's used for graphics I went with a 64-bit MX install.

Unfortunately, the one I have has a defective Ethernet (won't work either directly or with docking station), and the wi-fi isn't great (need to upgrade card if/whenever I open it open)

Still well worth it to have the superb 1400x1050 4:3 SXGA screen!

x60t (also for x61t) boot issues -- recently resolved with great help on antiX and MX forums combined, now boots without long delay (see https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?f=134&t=45522 ) -- xserver-xorg-core was the problem-- (thus proving what a great community we have here with the antiX/MX forums)!

Tablet mode Rotation Issue -- x60t (also same issue applies for x61t, x200t, x220t screen) rotation for tablet mode -- still unresolved alignment of screen display and pen cursor, tried several things but no fixes yet (have to find old notes on details of what I've tried so far a bunch of xrander (sp?) or somesuch I think...) not MX-specific, Linux just doesn't seem to be good at handling tablets and the rotational alignment with the pen pointing interface judging by several distros I've tried and none of them do it (anyone else got a way to get this working correctly?!). Because of this issue I've still got this set up as a legacy dual-boot to Windows XP Tablet edition so I can do graphical pen work fully properly until someone can figure this out.

This is such a big issue (the absolute single biggest) for me that I'll happily put a paid bounty out on this rotation fix and happily donate $100 to the MX project if/when it is solved and fully working for the Thinkpads x60t and x61t with MX Linux !

Same issues and solutions as Thinkpad x60t (above).

The wi-fi is, however, much better:
