MX 15 respin for cutting-edge hardware?

For issues with MX that has been modified from the initial install. Example: adding packages that then cause issues.

IIRC, the latest kernel I tried was 64bit antix 3.18 and I tested it under load (after installing cpufrequtils and psensor) by running several instances of debian package "evolvotron", each rendering batches of 4k-res imagefiles. I can't recall whether I tried 'parallel -j6 [command]' though. I don't have daily access to that box, so it's hit-n-miss when I can liveboot and test it.

Uploading now to Dropbox, will post link when it's finished uploading. Total size is 1.2 GB, compressed using XZ compression for better compression, but slower unpacking, which is never a problem on higher end machines with USB3.x anyway. I removed the 4.2.0 kernel so there remains only the 4.6.4 backports kernel.

When booting from the Live-iso on my laptop (specs below in my signature) no errors were reported, same for my development laptop.

Will edit this post to include link when upload finished.

md5sum for finished product.

I just discovered there were half a dozen packages that I missed, so will redo and upload another ISO, but it's late at night here so I'll do it in the morning.

Some NZ providers have this useless and unnecessary routing blockage to some Debian repos, the site I'm at fir the next few days is fed by one such provider, so I'll use my cellular data to fix it then re-upload the ISO. The missing package updates will have minimal effect, but it's better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them.

check the md5sum by running the command below from the location that contains both downloads.
Or just right-click the md5sum file > Check data integrity

Thanks, tested in Virtualbox before installing on real hardware. Looks very good.

(To date, the stock kernels have not. Was I expected to cheatcode something or change some config?)
Where would you upload? FWIW, I'm not a googleDocs user/accountholder.
I would be happy to test, primarily on pesky Slylake/Optimus Multi Graphics machines from Asus that have some known bugs that are addressed only in quite new kernels.

With multi graphics machines, you may still have to use safe video mode to get a working display, then follow a procedure to get bumblebee installed. The stock 4.2.0 kernel handles these quite well, it's the graphics engine that gets confused until it's told to select the appropriate driver, unless you can turn off the switchable graphics in the bios and go with the onboard intel only. If this build is going to help, it will be a combination of things, not a single item that makes all the difference and I believe the primary benefit will initially be the integrated graphics moreso than the dedicated chip. Be good to hear your results though cause there's still room to modify it further.

One thing you might add is to run the update-pciids & update-usbids commands to update those lists before doing the snapshot/remaster, that was something I had mike (mmikeinsantarosa) do in his thread here: http://forum.mepiscommunity.org/viewtop ... 59#p391691.
