MX and Dolphin

#1 Post by Topher »

I have installed Dolphin and in trying to send a file to trash it says the trash has reached its maximum size! Clean the trash manually. But using Thunar, I can send the file to trash. What is going on?

What is going on?
Dolphin is using a kde trash, which have a size restriction. The xfce trash is unlimited in size.
The trash is located in ~/.local/share/Trash/files/, both in kde and xfce.

Quite true, but the error occurs with no files in the trash.

I can confirm what Utopia said about the ~/.local/share/Trash/files folder. That's where stuff goes when you hit the delete key or select "Move to Trash" in Dolphin. If you navigate to that folder and right-click on it, what does it say under Properties > General? How many files and how much space is being used?

When I right-click on my Trash widget on the desktop, under Trashcan Settings I see there is a size limit setting. Mine is set to 10% of the /home folder size, which is a 24.6GB partition. Maybe yours is set for 0% perhaps?

If nothing else works, try deleting the Trash widget and then re-install it.

I am still having trouble getting wireless to work in VB so cannot confirm root or hidden files. Dolphin is not installed in the VB installation. My comment was based on earlier experience with MX-14 and just installing Dolphin, not the entire KDE desktop, I suspect some other component is needed, as certain Dolphin features did not work without adding packages. What that component is I cannot say as I never corrected the issue.

When I RC on that icon on my desktop, I don't see anything about a size limit. All I get is to Open the file, Empty the trash or Applications. I got that icon by going to Desktop Settings -> Icon Tab -> Checking the Trash Icon.
