Not while writing a post thank goodness, but yes it happens to me every now and then. Not enough to be annoying though, so I never went to find a cause.

Perhaps your browser (Vivaldi?) has some settings to clear cookies or cache every X months, and maybe the time that the clearance task took place just happened to be in the midst of you writing your tutorial post?
You might have to check your settings.

OK, thanks to all, for your input.
Looks like it may be just one of "those things".
After all these years, it won't be easy for me to develop a new habit of writing tutorials in a text editor first (even though it makes a great deal of sense to do so).

it has happened to me several times, less on this forum, but i am pretty sure it was an internet connection issue (instant failure). just copy to clipboard before you post

Re: I wrote a tutorial (twice), was logged out whilst writing it?
Could this be something to do with 'remember me' ?
As far as I can gather if you don't check 'remember me' when logging in, it will log you out after about an hour of inactivity, I think it is ?

@antechdesigns, that was the first thing that I thought when my first attempt to save the tutorial failed. So when I logged in again I made sure that box was checked. Still go dumped a couple of more times...
So that wasn't it, in my case at least.

Maybe your problem is here: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=1478395
But it would need an Administrator to fix it ?
Re: I wrote a tutorial (twice), was logged out whilst writing it?
I would caution that the phpBB post referred to is from 2009. There have been several versions of both phpBB and Sql since then.

Yes I'm aware.Could still be the problem though?
Just out of curiosity what is "Session IP validation" set too? assuming its still a valid setting, then we can eliminate that as being the problem and look elsewhere.
Thanks

I also realized yesterday that for a while everytime I clicked a link I got logged out, this happened from my phone's Firefox and an hour later all was fine again.
