Not staying logged in; no email notifications [Solved]

#1 Post by paul1149 »

Hi,
I'm new here. I noticed today that I do not stay logged in, though I check that option on login. Tested in two browsers. And I am not receiving any email notifications to replies to my posts. They're not being filtered out either.

Thanks.

Hi Paul and welcome.
Please supply result of inxi -F so that we know what you are using, and if you are not receiving notifications of replies to your posts, how do you determine that replies are being sent to you?

I have seen that happen when the old url was being used by mistake. Are logging in to https?

Agree with Jerry.

With regard to not staying logged in, if you were accessing the forum via your bookmark which was pointing to the old http URL and not the newer https URL, you won't be logged in.

Also, previously when I received email notifications of reply posts made by forum members who used http and NOT https in their posts, the email notification will similarly contain a http link and not https link. Clicking on that http link, I wouldn't be logged in.

So I'm guessing that currently your forum settings for email notification were all created when logged in using the https URL, and subsequently if you had logged into the http site to make posts, it's not recognised as the same thing so you won't get notifications.

Hmmm. No, I wasn't using SHTML. Not sure how that happened. I'm not clear on why it matters, but I've now switched my bookmark to secure and will report back.

Thanks!

This problem is probably solved. I'm staying logged in now. And as far as the email notifies - it would help if I had that enabled? :)
