As aus9 mentioned in another post, image sharing services can be used to post images on the forum. There are several that are free. Imgur was mentioned, and I generally use Photobucket. You can upload your image to the sharing site and they will give you a BB code to use on forums. This is especially helpful for large images that are beyond the allowed limit of images stored in the forum database, and helps keep the forum image database within reasonable storage limits.

for what its worth I use tinypic.com but it does have some annoying popups. I still use it as I can save images there in albums which is kinda cool.
