PM spammer

#1 Post by Jerry3904 »

I have never seen this trick before. I received a spam PM today (attached) from this user: http://www.mepislovers.org/member.php?u=13754. There is no report as spam button for PMs as there is for posts, so this is the only way I can think of reporting it.
Production: 5.10, MX-23 Xfce, AMD FX-4130 Quad-Core, GeForce GT 630/PCIe/SSE2, 16 GB, SSD 120 GB, Data 1TB
Personal: Lenovo X1 Carbon with MX-23 Fluxbox and Windows 10
Other: Raspberry Pi 5 with MX-23 Xfce Raspberry Pi Respin

Jerry,

Thanks for the report.
We are trying to be aggressive catching spammers as they register but some slither through.

I and others have received PM spam from time to time. Report it as you have and one of the admins or supermods will ban the spammer.

I had one over last weekend, they had already been banned by the time I found it, so Rich it appears you all are doing a good job getting rid of them.
Thanks,

It is an uphill battle. I would not say we are winning, just keeping them at bay.

perhaps a feature request should be sent to the forum software devs asking for some sort of forum user controlled PM spam control?
