Re: How Google pioneered the "surveillance capitalism" business model
People with something to sell (and in more recent times, Marketing companies) have been trying to manipulate us for 100s if not 1000s of years. Every time you watch a movie or a tv show you are being manipulated (it used to be called "Product Placement"... maybe still is). Tobacco companie...

Re: All home directory folders show on desktop
First thought (assuming Thunar still handles the Desktop)... Have you checked ~/.config/thunar/user-dirs.dirs - it should look like this: # This file is written by xdg-user-dirs-update # If you want to change or add directories, just edit the line you're # interested in. All local changes will be re...

Re: What does this article mean for MX Linux?
If they stop including init.d scripts for packages that need to run services (which is what is being talked about) it will take a lot more work by our developers to continue avoiding mandatory systemd usage when the current Debian Testing becomes Stable in a couple years. That doesn't mean we won't...

[...] I was hoping to get some extra help with doing those with novice packagers, since rebuilding from stuff we've already packaged should be quite simple*. [...] What's needed for this? Re: Nuke a SSD - Dban will not work on a SSD
There's similar info about clearing the Memory Cells on Arch Wiki. Also Parted Magic has a Disk Erase Utility that handles SSDs (select the Internal option). (<-- I forgot that you had to pay for it )
