Re: Do I need 64 bit?

I don't do video transcoding or any coding/compiling anymore so I reckon 32 bit will be just fine for me. Everything is a tradeoff and the overall look, feel, stability and operation of the OS is more important to me than a few nano-seconds. I was actually going to move to SolydX today before I disc...

Re: MX-14 is great

I may experiment with that but I like to install and forget when I change to a different OS. I just converted my wife from W7 to a Lubuntu setup 2 weeks ago and so far she is very happy. Fast boots, fast shutdowns, and the system works. I will likely switch her machine over to MX-14 next week and th...

Do I need 64 bit?

I'm impressed with MX-14 and a huge fan in just a day, Now the question: it's a 32 bit system and all of my hardware is 64 bit - what will I miss out on? I have 3 laptops I use cyclically, a Core I-3, a Core I-5, and a Core I-7 gaming box with 8GB RAM and Nvidia graphics. No, I'm not a gamer, I boug...

Re: MX-14 is great

I am truly floored by how well MX-14 is working out for me. I made a snapshot of my installed & tweaked system and wrote it to a thumb drive. I them pulled my hard drive and put in a blank spare I had laying around and booted into the thumb drive. I used gparted to setup new clean partitions the...

Re: MX-14 is great

Thanks, I'll check it out. I have always managed partitions outside of any installer - just safer that way. On my first test I'll likely install on a old blank drive to make sure all runs well...

Re: MX-14 is great

Is there a help document or guide for the cli-installer? When I get back to GA tomorrow I will be putting this system on my main laptop, a Core I-7 with Nvidia graphics and 8 GB RAM...

Re: Love new MX-14

Replaced Lubuntu on my travel laptop this morning and I really like it so far. I have never been a fan of bloated systems that try to be everything to everyone and that's what led me here...

MX-14 is great

Howdy all, newbie here. I have toyed with various distros for the past 8 years always looking for the "best" for me. Up until recently I have been running various LXDE systems from Zorin, Watt, and even Lubuntu. No, I don't have old dated hardware but I just like lean fast systems without ...
