Re: Mounting and permission

Yes, a very good section! I also went through the manual, to see how you use the term CLI. Let it be CLI, the files are CLI in the wider sense. I totally like the manual, I like that it is one page, because I hate such manuals which have "previous chapter" and "next chapter" link...

Re: Mounting and permission

Ah, I see. You might think about introducing a third category: config files. It's not an abbreviation, but definitely a wide used method to configure Linux. The config files is also a category a new user might not know about. I never touched any system files when I was running Windows. They were a p...

Re: Multiple Boot Option

My opinion is to always find the application you want in the repositories, and if it does not exist ask our packaging experts if they can build it. These people are very good and most often can give you what you need. We have separate forums and sub-forums to make those requests. Agreeing with rich...

Re: Multiple Boot Option

I would disagree with asqwerth, but only for the case of compiling from source and other tasks done following a guide. If a guide provides commands it is less risky to follow the commands and use the GUI only if you completely understand the commands. For compliling there are graphical pgrograms lik...

Re: Multiple Boot Option

Thank you! This is getting so good that even rough stuff doesn't feel nearly as overwhelming. You are right. And I get your point that su is not needed on that. I am just starting to understand some of this. Between the help here and videos of ppl working through their installations, every day a li...

Re: Multiple Boot Option

Yeah, ./configure is scary, but it will do no more harm than you not being able to compile the code. If s.th. goes wrong simply post the terminal output of ./configure here and I think there will be at least 5 competent people to give you advise on that (probably not me). However, I'm asking myself ...

Re: Multiple Boot Option

Hello i-Scan! Would this package give you GNU Radio functionality? https://packages.debian.org/jessie/gqrx-sdr There is also Gnu Radio on Debian: https://packages.debian.org/jessie/gnuradio Shame on us that we didn't look there before. So, you wouldn't need to add any repositories. Just install like...

Yes, and this would be important to do for the others, too. In case they want to change s.th. I hope I didn't miss an occurance of the word elsewhere.
