Re: K9COPY Users.
Interesting. I had heard that k9copy had gone the way of the dodo bird. Development Development was resumed in 2014, under the project listing of K9copy-reloaded at Sourceforge.net, by a new developer after the initial development of K9Copy was stopped in 2011 with the author citing the fragmentatio...

Re: kmail ? for the kde gurus and a /home ?
I probably shouldn't be answering your kmail question because I don't use it, preferring Thunderbird instead. But here goes: When you say there are a "fair few" mailboxes, are you referring to different email accounts or different folders where things are saved under the same account? I be...

Re: Root access (su, sudo, etc.) entry
There's also kdesu for us KDE aficionados. One thing that puzzles me is why sudo is considered "safer" than su. In Linux (and Unix in general), there is a SuperUser named Root. The Windows equivalent of Root is Administrators group. The SuperUser can do anything and everything, and ...

Re: Static DNS
Yeah. That must also be machine-specific, which I need to add, rather than LAN-wide. So in my house, following your method would do nothing for my laptops or phone, or my wife's various Mac devices. Exactly. It is far far easier and simpler to access the router (192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 in most c...

Re: Static DNS
I guess the way to find out is to look at the /etc/dhcp/dbclint.conf file after the Network Manager does its thing.Jerry3904 wrote:I wonder if that's what using Network Manager does as in the video posted above.

Re: Static DNS
<Jerry: I have corrected the line to be added as well as the name of the file.> Without a router (or even with one), a very simple way to use OpenDNS (or another DNS server), is to edit the /etc/dhcp/dhclient.conf file. Add this line: prepend domain-name-servers 208.67.222.222,208.67.220.220; After ...

Re: Dolphin displays error when single-clicking on folders
I've had Dolphin not open a Folder/File unless I click on the name. I have no idea why a click on the Icon will not open them. But I've never had your issue joany. That's kind of similar to what happens to me, and it gave me an idea. I don't seem to get the error message if I carefully align the mo...

Dolphin displays error when single-clicking on folders
Dolphin has developed an annoying habit: When single-clicking a folder to open it, this message highlighted in a pink background sometimes (but not always) appears at the bottom of the Dolphin window: "A folder cannot be dropped into itself" There's a red "X" button to the right ...

Re: What's your swappiness set to, eh?
The default value of 60 seems awfully high to me. I don't want my HDD thrashing around until the free memory gets down to 10% or so. With 4GB of installed RAM (minus a small amount used for video), I've seldom seen swap used running Linux unless I'm running resource-hungry applications like Snapshot...

Re: Root Actions context menu in Dolphin
Kubicle posted this requirement:
I don't know if it's pertinent or not.The menu needs a properly configured kdesu/kdesudo to work (kdesudo is preferred, for some added functionality, like remembering password for a period of time...timeout is configurable by sudo settings)
