Ok, that sounds like great advice. I will start with the cache and then proceed to the kernel if necessary.
Very much appreciated!

Problem with Telegram media caching [Solved]
I use Telegram a lot, and there is much media shared there, both still pics and videos. Very frequently the media will hang trying to load, or in the case of videos it might start playing but have many freezes along the way, apparently as it tries to cache as it goes. I am on an older i3 laptop with...

Re: MX-23 and easystroke?
I've tried mouse-actions on MX21, and found it unwieldy and couldn't get to first base with it. My query at the site hasn't been replied to. I don't think it's going to be a viable alternative for me at this stage. However, I seem to have found a way to rectify Easystroke's problems, by eliminating ...

Re: MX-23 and easystroke?
Why not try it in a live session and see how it performs? Good idea. Just wanted to get others' experiences. Unmaintained since December 2018 - see https://github.com/thjaeger/easystroke/wiki On that page they recommend a successor, based on easystroke https://github.com/jersou/mouse-actions That's...

MX-23 and easystroke?
I rely on easystroke quite a bit, on mx-21. It works great, but occasionally a stroke will crash the session. Logging back in isn't worth it, because the new session will be badly hobbled. So I reboot. This happened this morning. It used to be a lot worse, but I reinstalled easystroke and it has bee...

Re: How to elevate from command line without password query?
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libexec/kf5/kdesu -u yourusername plasma-discover %F I also found that elevation was still required when actually updating. I also tried direct access to Upgrade mode: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libexec/kf5/kdesu -u yourusername "plasma-discover --mode Update" wit...

Re: How to elevate from command line without password query?
OK, thanks. I did get MXPI to open with manual elevation, simply by changing the action in its polkit file. But there is no polkit for Discover, and I haven't found what I need. Darn shame they removed gksudo. So simple and effective.

Re: How to elevate from command line without password query?
Didn't work. The command seemed to take in Terminal. It was sudo tee /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/99-no-gui-password-for-me.pkla <<! [No password prompt] Identity=unix-user:paul Action=plasma-discover ResultActive=yes ! But Discover still called for a password before it would install upda...

Ok, thanks much. I will give that a spin.
