Re: Mepis Installer Script

It's not a script, it's a Qt program, the code is here: https://github.com/MEPIS-Community/MEPIS-Installer (not sure how up to date is there, it should be reasonable new, but it doesn't have the latest changes for MEPIS 11 though)

Re: The mepis.org home page for M11 release

For what is worth this thread was posted only on April 29, that's like 3 days ago, I don't see that as such a long time, and if there's no time for redesign then don't ask for opinions... just saying, not complaining or anything....

Re: The mepis.org home page for M11 release

Not sure if I agree with all that Jim said, but I think he makes a good point here:
But, I'd use a smaller screen or screens for the Mepis desktop with text beside them (like the existing main page) instead.

Re: Alert for M11

Xdelta patch is ideal for people who already have the RC3 ISO, I bet the patch will be less than 100MB. I will try to post the 64bit (I don't keep the 32bit ISO). There's not even a need to create a torrent for the patch, for that size it can be hosted on Dropbox or similar services.

Re: The mepis.org home page for M11 release

The font feels a little bit out of the place (like slapped over the image) I wonder if other font wouldn't work better. Not sure what I don't like, maybe because it's bold, maybe it doesn't fit the curly stuff in the background...

And the LiveUSB install option is amazing--taking only a few minutes, even with 3+GB to install. We ought to put up a YouTube video from start to finish of someone doing that in three minutes. That would be great, maybe a parallel with just installing SP1 in Windows 7... you know, just for fun... D...

Best base: Debian, lots of packages.
In addition to Debian, better installer, newer packages, KDE, Firefox, (but more stable that Sid or Testing). Responsive community packagers who upgrade packages.
Supported by nice community, has a shiny manual polished by Jerry.

I still find gparted to useful to be replaced kde-partition-manager.
It was replaced since 8.5 if I'm not wrong, I wonder, what can gparted do that kde-partition-manager can't?

Re: SM 11 RC2 Best Live Disk So Far

But the Installer code is on github (https://github.com/MEPIS-Community) so anyone who is interested can fork it and have a go at it. That's a great point. I wish somebody took a look at the checkboxes for disabling services (bluetooth and samba and something else) at the end of the installation pr...
