Re: dockbarx has unmet dependencies
As best I can tell at the moment, both the preferences applet and the settings to add the applet to the xfce taskbar are working, but accepting the settings on the plugin for the taskbar don't do anything - the applet does not appear in the xfce taskbar at all. Just in case I am not being clear, the...

Re: dockbarx has unmet dependencies
I am looking into this as a user because I use it on all my machines. Most of them are 18.3 so I didn't get this upgrade, but I have two 19.3 machines where the update is coming through. Whatever happened with the latest upgrade, it blew away my Dockbarx settings (no more icons on the taskbar that w...

Re: MX Modified - KDE 5.19.3 on MX (UNSUPPORTED - extremely experimental)
Thanks very much! Hi Nathan, ... As far as the Dolphin previews for Word documents are concerned, I am not that impressed - they are really just a big icon (see screenshot). I could be doing something wrong, as this is not a topic I'm very much aware of, but if this is the "preview", it d...

Re: MX Modified - KDE 5.19.3 on MX (UNSUPPORTED - extremely experimental)
Andy no problem as to snapshots I understand. You are correct that you must be missing something on your installation as to the screenshot with the preview. On the latest KDEs I have seen (Manjaro for instance) both word documents and excel spreadsheets show as full and complete previews of the firs...

Re: MX Modified - KDE 5.19.3 on MX (UNSUPPORTED - extremely experimental)
Andy -- I have a specific goal I want to accomplish by getting an MX installation functioning with the latest KDE: I use my computers in a business environment where I am constantly working with Microsoft Word and excel documents. My goal has been for years to get a file manager that has a preview p...

Re: Jellyfin not installing correctly
Texneus I am interested in this too - I just listened to a podcast from Michael Tunnel talking about a recent update.
But I am not clear if there is a reason to consider moving to Jellyfin from Kodi. Does Jellyfin have features that make it preferable to Kodi or Plex?

Re: Thorny Problem with update-alternatives --config gnome-www-browser
Thank you guys - all - for your replies. I think I overanalyzed the problem because i seem to be able to get this working now by just using the "make default browser" option within Firefox itself. I will mark this "solved" and try to do better analysis before posting next time! A...

Re: Thorny Problem with update-alternatives --config gnome-www-browser
Fehlix thank you for your offer of help but after experimenting further I am now very confused about my system so let me just play further before I take anyone else's time. In fact I have made a copy of this post and I can repost if it necessary. Can we go ahead and delete this for the time being?

[solved] Thorny Problem with update-alternatives --config gnome-www-browser
I know that this is going to be a very user-specific problem, but I would appreciate any hints given that I am googled out and still at a dead end. I am using a fully updated MX18.3 system running the XFCE desktop. I have some KDE libraries installed to use dolphin, but I absolutely have not install...

Re: Shutter: Is it possible to convert a PPA to an AppImage?
I've posted myself about how much I like shutter and find the competition still lacking in many ways that are significant to me. I missed it until yesterday, but within the last month or so Alan Pope at Canonical, who apparently agrees with us on Shutter, released a SNAP package for it: https://snap...
