I was able to run Slic3r similar to appimage ( I downloaded appimage and it didn't work after I checkmarked as "allow this file to run as a program".. I downloaded Slicer.targz then unzipped thru terminal... In downloads, on Slic3r folder, I navigated to Slic3r/bin/ folder and find slic3r...

Novelwriter has an Ubuntu PPA that I can use to get source stuff for porting.

You're welcome to backport it yourself to see if it makes the magic smoke come out of your computer.

The repo version also needs a lot of recommended packages to work correctly, especially with the GUI. You can enable that easily in MXPI, or with a little research if you prefer the terminal.

Hmmm---I don't think it should. I thought hal was deprecated quite a while ago. There is a newer sound-juicer upstream in Debian that could be backported.

Just uploaded it. I also needed to backport a new doxygen (some kind of thing that creates documentation) this time to fix a build failure related to its man pages.
