Re: Reducing the relative volume of notifications [Solved]
I found system notifications relative volume. It's under System Settings / Hardware / Audio, and it works perfectly. I think this is an ALSA feature, whereas the volume control widget is Pulse. I'm not sure, but anyway it's working great.

Re: Why won't this script work? [Solved]
My problem back then was that when I edited my windows repair batch files in the linux environment, they would all be horribly broken. Since linux read both ending types, and windows read only one, I went with the type that was common. Were I doing the same thing today, the question is whether the w...

An old habit, for inter-system portability.

Re: Why won't this script work? [Solved]
Good to know, thanks. It was written on this machine, but the editor was set to Windows line endings.

Re: Why won't this script work? [Solved]
Wow, that's all it was. I switched the file to UNIX endings, and it worked not only in the command line, but through Dolphin. I suspected it had to be something basic, but this never occurred to me.
Thanks much, mystery solved!

Re: Why won't this script work? [Solved]
I use the xfce terminal, just to be clear, but here is the output.
Code: Select all
paul@mx:~
$ cat -v remove.sh
#! /usr/bin/bash^M
#^M
echo "Hello World"^M
ls^M
paul@mx:~

Re: Why won't this script work? [Solved]
Thanks. When I entered sh remove.sh from the directory that script lies in, it did execute. I did not even have to precede it with "./", as in sh ./remove.sh which I thought was necessary. So maybe I'd misunderstood how to call scripts from the command line? I'm confused at what's going on...

Re: Why won't this script work? [Solved]
Thanks, I think I have those bases covered.
Also, when I use the shebang,
#!/usr/bin/env bash
I get the result:
$ ./remove.sh
/usr/bin/env: ‘bash\r’: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/env: use -[v]S to pass options in shebang lines
which I have no clue about.

Re: Thank you to the developers
Ditto here. I only recently upgraded an older laptop and a ryzen tower to M23. Everything went great, except for unrelated hardware problems on the tower. I was also very happy to still be able to find easystroke in an old repository, and still usable. Everything is very polished, very smooth. Much ...
