Many years ago, systemd would go to emegency shell
if the swap was formatted during installation of another distro.
UUID of swap changed.
Maybe it still does?

Not directly. You will need 2 USB sticks of at least 8 GB (actually 4 GB if you have it). Rufus will create a Live USB that is bootable but not writeable for persistence. If you have a separate home partition: reinstall using the latest release of MX21-xfce which will replace all Fluxbox widgits. However, be sure to Preserve Home when installing to avoid data loss.
