Dear @whell , If it was a new member with the 1st post, I wouldn't get surprised.. but .. You're a member of this forum since 2009 with 319 posts (even 10 years before me).. Older HP Laptop with Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N + WiMAX 6150
Just got this older laptop and put MX-19 on it. When setting up wireless networking, MX recognizes the device and I'm able to connect wirelessly. However, the connection is slower than a dead mule. -PCI Devices- Host bridge : Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family DRAM Controller (re...

Ive been using Wide Open West for the last couple of years. They're actually pretty decent. The other option is Comcast, and I'd be just as likely to walk on my lips through broken glass and hot coals as sign up with Comcast.

Re: What is the real popularity of MX Linux?
It just works, does everything I need it to do, and it has a rich and responsive forum community. What more can you ask for? In terms of its "real" popularity, I don't know that Mepis or its successor MX Linux was ever about being "popular". The distro has always tipped it's hat ...

Re: Deadbeef Segfault
I think I figured it out. I deleted the "Deadbeef" folder in the .config folder and got deadbeef to start. Thanks

Re: Deadbeef Segfault
I think I moved that folder. Would that cause deadbeef to not start?

Deadbeef Segfault
Deadbeef is exiting without the gui starting. :frown: Here's the terminal output. This is s a new issue - deadbeef has been working fine 'til now. $ deadbeef starting deadbeef 1.8.0 server_start searching for GUI plugins in /home/whell/.local/lib64/deadbeef searching for GUI plugins in /home/whell/....

Re: Can we get a "NEWBIE" section
If it is any consolation... I have been here since 2006 and words like "kernel" scare me ;) I'm sorta with you on this one. I just want to drive the car. Having to open the hood periodically - for someone at my skill level with neither the time nor inclination to become even a novice mech...

Re: MX audiophile tips and tricks
I am using vlc for audio.Seems to have a lot of options that can be configured- alsa /pulse etc. Any thoughts? It's a fine option for audio playback. In the audio setup options for VLC, you can opt to bypass Pulseaudio and pipe the audio output directly to your sound card / audio device. This isn't...

Re: MX audiophile tips and tricks
Just thought to chime in and say that I use Audacious as my general-purpose, default audio player ... I like the fact that you can set it up to play midi files by accessing high-quality soundfonts if you have them. I'm a professional musician (going on 45 years now!) and my go-to audio player for g...
