Re: Very slow repsonse time
At times there are about 300+ extra users that I'd guess are Bots... maybe Cloudfare or the like with an aggressive marketing campaign Dos'ing the forum (I'm not serious about Cloudfare, so you lawyers can hold the court case )

Suggestion for addition to MX Tools
It's possible that I've posted similar before (memory can be hit or miss as you age ;) ), but... MX Tools are one of the standout features of MX Linux - almost everything you could want is a part of the Tools. I say "almost everything" because I think there's maybe one thing missing. Many ...

Re: Network printer not working - need steps and *.conf file
As far as I can remember - I switched on my printer - connected it wirelessly to my router - then I just selected Printers (Cups) from the Whisker Menu - followed any prompts and the printer was there without me doing anything else (and able to print to from any application)

Re: Just migrated from MX 18.3 to 19, saving & reusing home
I posted in the Beta thread that I upgraded from 18.3 successfully using Aptik, but I don't think I mentioned that I always use the "Advanced" rather than "Basic" option. That way I can select (and see) exactly what is being backed-up. I selected all options, including backing-up...

Re: Automated package installation script
Another way, Jay: This one-liner will give you a list of packages that are not part of the original installation: comm <(awk '{print $1}' /usr/share/antiX/installed-packages.txt | sort -u) <(apt-mark showmanual | sort -u) -13 > packages.txt You'll have a lot *less to sort through and delete And this...

Re: MX-19 RC1 Feedback thread
So, I did a test install (System info not relevant for this post) to test out the "Preserve Home" option, but when Home is on root, not a separate partition... a couple of points: Installer asks if you want to preserve Home - selected this option. When install nearly complete, you get a ra...

Re: MX-19 RC1 Feedback thread
[...] Maybe if you wait a bit after MX 19 is out, we'll have an MX migration app that duplicates many of the functions of aptik-gtk, which is no longer developed as freeware. For now, you can install aptik-gtk and use it to save a list of your installed packages, then reinstall it in MX 19 and use ...

There's ways around it... though it means more work than activation - for example

Re: Generating random characters in console; Ctrl + C doesn't stop the command
Not what you asked, but: There's many different ways of generating passwords in the Terminal, but one that doesn't (IMO) get enough of a mention is Diceware ... gives you easy(ish) to remember (and strong?) passwords without meaningless characters. EDIT: oops... wrong url ;) Here's the correct one.

Re: Chromium does not open in beta 2.1
Install chromium-sandbox (I think that's the package name). Our chromium entry in mxpackage-installer->popular apps does this by default but other methods wont pull it in because it's not listed as a dependency of chromium but rather a recommend . (Technically you can also run chromium with the --n...
