As far as I can remember - I switched on my printer - connected it wirelessly to my router - then I just selected Printers (Cups) from the Whisker Menu - followed any prompts and the printer was there without me doing anything else (and able to print to from any application)

Not what you asked, but: There's many different ways of generating passwords in the Terminal, but one that doesn't (IMO) get enough of a mention is Diceware ... gives you easy(ish) to remember (and strong?) passwords without meaningless characters.
