Re: repositories
But please note your avatar - "No PPAs".
PPA repos are generally for Ubuntu-based systems, not Debian.
The packages are not always compatible.

Re: Errors trying to upgrade 17.x to 18.x
But "apt upgrade" command won't: update any packages where dependency requirements mean: 1. additional packages have to be installed, 2. some old packages have to be removed in order to be replaced by a new dependant package. There is at least 1 additional package in recent memory that is ...

Summary of other posts: MX Boot Options - the GUI way to do it. Cavsfan's post - the CLI way. Regardless of method used, there are picture limitations. Re: Just saw dolphin's blog post on systemd-shim

And antiX has been running on Debian repos all this while, and yet filtering out the systemd packages so they are systemd-free. There's no need to discuss turning to Devuan just to be systemd-free. And Devuan ...

Just saw dolphin's blog post on systemd-shim
It's been publicized on Distrowatch. From what I can see, using sysV alone (like antiX or pclinuxOS) is not that much an issue; the main issue MX faces is trying to continue giving users the freedom to choose between sysV and systemd on the same installed system. And the shim package is needed for t...

Re: Errors trying to upgrade 17.x to 18.x
Didn't mx17/18 also (that is, it wasn't just mx15/16 that had this issue) have a gpg key issue a few months' ago? That might be the problem since you hadn't used this installation for that same period of time. If so, use synaptic, reload, search for "keyring". There should be an updatable ...
