Re: SLiM takes several minutes to load
I didn't discover a (one) guaranteed solution for ya. Across those linked pages, sounds like installing a newer kernel did resolve the mentioned problem(s).

Re: General Resolution started about Init Systems & systemd
:hmm: SharpBang ⋛ Haiku And as a more considered reply to the last point in your other post, I would note that Debian is (and always has been) a do-ocracy — those who contribute the most get to decide the general direction of development so naturally the GNOME team are leading the way in some areas....

Re: Does this make you think of anything?
Saw this in Jessie's new review of Emmabuntüs -- somehow looks awfully familiar. https://i.vgy.me/zRepJU.png as launched on antiX, without the companion emmabuntus_found_theme script and specified buttons iconse Unlike MX Tools, their "tools" application is a gtkdialog script (ala antiX C...

Re: Does this make you think of anything?
I kind of like the Brother tool, since we get questions about it. Would be interesting in seeing what it does. You can view a walkthrough set of screenshots in their printer configuration docs: DVP_Emmabuntus_Debian_Edition_Printer_Configuration_En.pdf section 6.4 (p47) I've placed a copy of the sc...

Re: live-usb-maker data partition ownership
If you made a USB with persist_all can you change it to another persist option? We have an opportunity during each boot. On any given boot, you can choose a different persist option (or none, for that boot session). If you change persist options do you have to remaster for it to work? Whichever cho...

Re: General Resolution started about Init Systems & systemd
I respect your intellect and regret that my earlier post came across as an "ad hominem". However, I truly wonder whether you are being specious here, or whether you and I are prone to connecting-the-dots so differently that we wind up with differing points of view. re "202,689": ...

Re: General Resolution started about Init Systems & systemd
popcon shows that only ~1% of Debian systems are running sysvinit as PID1 [1] so [..] Considering that the "popularity contest" has garnered telemetry from only 61K machines running debian buster, any claim based on extrapolation of popcon stats is ill-founded. https://i.vgy.me/hDBfxu.png...
