Re: MX-19.4 no longer has internet access
We need full details on where the foreign deb file came from before we can determine just how it broke your system. We called this a learning experience, warnings are detailed in the Debian wiki under, "don't break Debian ". I actually installed opensnitch and opensnitch-ui from the MX Te...

Re: MX-19.4 no longer has internet access
I'm mistaken - I installed opensnitch from the MX Test repo.
I'm not usually this reckless when installing packages - I usually only use official MX packages....
Anyway, I believe I got the deb from:
https://github.com/evilsocket/opensnitch#download

Re: MX-19.4 no longer has internet access
I explored the MX Firewall Configuration tool. I was able to activate the firewall and deny access, as confirmed by the output of the iptables -L command. I was also able to de-activate it and allow access. But still no internet. I have successfully cloned the drive, and it looks as though a repair ...

Re: MX-19.4 no longer has internet access
Thanks for getting back to me.
I ran the commands that you suggested, and got the identical responses that you got. I can't paste them directly here, but they are identical. But your suggestions have given me some direction. Thanks again.

Solved: MX-19.4 no longer has internet access
After reading about the opensnitch firewall, I decided to give it a try. When I tried to install it, I was told I was holding broken packages, and to fix them first. I discovered that libflac8 was broken, and removed it. I did a full upgrade, and then installed opensnitch, and a few dependencies. Af...

Moved to "help"- MX19.4 no longer has internet access
I think I put this in the wrong place. Re-posted in "help". After reading about the opensnitch firewall, I decided to give it a try. When I tried to install it, I was told I was holding broken packages, and to fix them first. I discovered that libflac8 was broken, and removed it. I did a f...

Re: Chrome on MX18.3
Ok, so a bit red-faced here. I renamed the chrome config file, still no launch. Tried the swapoff command - the cursor went to the next line in the console, but nothing happened. Then I had a look at htop. All 32G of ram used, and all 32G of swap being used. I had a lot of stuff open...... Anyway, a...

Re: Chrome on MX18.3
Thanks for replying. When I try starting it from the console it just sits there - have to do a control-C to stop it. It will sit there for ever if I don't. I just got an update notice today - google-chrome-stable amd64 108.0.5359.94-1 108.0.5359.98-1 I ran the update, it was successful, but still no...

Solved:Chrome on MX18.3
It seems that a recent upgrade to google-chrome has broken it. It won't launch from either the menu or the console. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, still no joy. Is there a version of chrome past which MX18.3 should not go? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks. System: Kernel: 4.19.0-16mx-amd64 a...
