Re: MX hit #6 spot on Distrowatch.

I'm not a software coder, but one of the things that I always envisioned having on my computers, is a Linux distro with as few applications as possible, that can achieve as much as possible, without using the terminal or having to resort to making own custom scripts which to me isn't much different ...

SOLVED - Re: Grub Customizer - Assignments not working in order

ps -aux |grep systemd would be what I would check. things like udev-systemd and logind will be running under both sysvinit and systemd, but there should be a systemd process with a PID of 1 if systemd is running. It's getting stranger yet. I would suggest that everyone who uses a double or a triple...

Re: MX hit #6 spot on Distrowatch.

And number #5 spot if you check for the past 3 months.

Keeping in line with the 12 months view, that's from spot 10 to spot 6 to spot 5. So far everything is looking good. ;^D

Re: Grub Customizer - Assignments not working in order

Using the command: gksu featherpad /boot/grub/grub.cfg I was about to edit the grub file manually, but then changed my mind since there's no point in making new changes while my intentions are to write over Manjaro with Mint 19 Cinnamon in the next few days. That's going to change the grub again any...

Re: Grub Customizer - Assignments not working in order

I was thinking that I could edit the grub file manually in order to achieve the correct order? Why is it only possibly to set the grub file from the "primary" of the three linux installations? That doesn't make sense to me since grub is supposed to be installed in the root of the drive, as...

Re: Grub Customizer - Assignments not working in order

According to Synaptic, both are there. I would have expected them to be too, since I didn't physically change i.e. remove or rename anything. Grub just didn't provide me with the choice that I selected and I believe that may have something to do with Manjaro and the grub that was initially created b...

Re: Ideas for a "Quick Start" document

That would be as simple as adding a button on the MX Startup Page, entitled: Linux Terminology The great thing about having a button like that is also that some other basic non-app references could be included in there. Perhaps something like: Windows Drives/Partitions c:/ d:/ e:/ are equal to SDA o...

Re: Grub Customizer - Assignments not working in order

Yeah, I just figured that one out and I'm indeed running MX Linux with systemd even though that was clearly *NOT* my selected option during boot. So now the next question becomes, how do I change the grub menu so that systemd is forced to come in as only my second or third choice? Altering the boot ...

SOLVED - Grub Customizer - Assignments not working in order

I've been running MX Linux with systemd which involved using the simple workaround of booting into a selectable MX Linux systemd setup. I did this primarily because I've never encountered any problems using systemd on Linux distros - ever - and because I was too lazy to immerse myself into the first...

Re: Full disk encryption

Can you recommend a good code reader/editor? I don't go beyond simple html, php, and some minor javascript, but my all-time favorite code editor of the past 25 years is .... drum roll please ... Komodo Edit. These people also make Komodo IDE, but the first one is the free one. Installations for Win...
