Re: M12 sources.list

Following the posts above, I've looked at the details of my sources. From a clean install 2 days ago, I've used Synaptic 9 times to update and install packages, plus once today to add a repo and install my printer drivers - 10 times in all. My sources.list file is now 6220 lines, only one of which ...

Re: M12 sources.list

I decided to add the stub tags "{{stub}}" to indicate that the wiki entry still needs some work. The list shown in the wiki is for a traditional /etc/apt/sources.list file. M11.9.91 and the earlier alphas and betas use two source files, /etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian.list & /etc/apt/so...

Re: M12 sources.list

In the past I've had bad results using "deb http : //http.debian.net/debian". When it was working it was very fast, but other times I would need to reload or 'apt-get update' several times to get a good update. I decided to go with Gaer Boy's suggestion. I kept the ".us" and adde...

Re: M12 sources.list

The sources.list has used the more generic "deb ftp : //ftp.debian.org/debian/". Is there a reason for changing it to deb http : //ftp.us.debian? How about changing from: deb http : //ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ wheezy main contrib non-free to: deb http : //ftp.debian.org/debian/ wheezy mai...

Re: M12 sources.list

I just made some changes. 1) Changed the formatting so it's similar to the sources.list wiki entries of earlier Mepis releases 2) Deleted the unstable & experimental entries --- Warren might have had them enabled a year ago when doing development but I don't really see any need for them anymore ...

Re: Does the forum index page update automatic ?

It does not update automatically. In Firefox you can specify "reload every" with a time interval per tab. Right click and you will see the 'reload every" command. I'm not seeing that anywhere. The reload option that richb mentions might be installed by a addon. I have the ...

Re: Poll - Happy with KDE 4 or not?

....You should remember that the version of KDE that's in Lenny is actually finished and tested. Everything else is being tested and is therefore in varying degrees of being finished.... I don't think that argument really applies to squeeze and KDE4 any more. Yeah squeeze is still technically Debia...

Re: New Forum Comments

One thing I've noticed is that the original post in a thread and it's replies aren't given post numbers like they were in the old forum.

For instance I think my reply in this thread is post #33.

In the old forum you could refer someone to a particular post in a thread by its number.
