Re: Using Virtualbox seems to slow down the system [Solved]
Some of the items *I would* consider extra, your usage / wants may very: teamviewer (unless someone is remotely helping you, otherwise start it when you need it), unattended-upgrade, colord, nfsd (unless you are using nfs shares), freshclam, fbxkb(d) (unless switching keyboard locale graphically), r...

Re: Using Virtualbox seems to slow down the system [Solved]
You have a bunch of things running that I would consider extra.... Maybe someone with more systemd knowledge can help you trim down some of the running programs to get your idle ram down from 3+ GB usage. Maybe add a swap file and mount it before running the virtual machine so you can see how much r...

Re: Using Virtualbox seems to slow down the system [Solved]
Using 3GB at idle after shutting down VirtualBox? and allocated 4 GB to the windows guest? and only having 5.6GB available? Seems you are running out of available memory. You can see what memory usage "is" by running the command free -m from terminal. You may want to increase your ram. If ...

A good portion of those are inactive and/or expired. At least half of them can be simply removed from whatever packages they came from just as a cleanup routine.

Re: Ebay U.K. and not U.S.?? [Solved]
Search shortcuts should be a heading under the "search" tab which contains a list of various search engines/websites. Screenshot_2021-09-21_20-10-41.png Maybe I am using a different version.... Edit: After rereading the first post I missed (or overlooked) that you where using waterfox not ...

Re: /usr/local/bin ignores the FHS
The most accepted reasoning for the non standard deviation by what I gather is it was easy to see, know, and maintain the antiX (MX) apps from a standard Debian install. Though this distinction has most probably gone stale at this point in time. The separation / differences from a base Debian instal...

Re: Ebay U.K. and not U.S.?? [Solved]
Is there no available option to search under ebay in about:preferences -> search -> search shortcuts and select ebay?
When enabled you should be able to use it by typing "@ebay my search string" in the address bar

Re: About display auto dimming on battery... [Solved]
There is an option in the xfce power manager settings for on battery vs on charge.
I had forgot about that option as it does not work on my new computer however YMMV. (Plus I like having the disconnect and reconnect sound :D )

Re: About display auto dimming on battery... [Solved]
Not entirely sure if there is a better "MX" way of dimming the display. I have been using a udev rule and xbacklight to do this. The udev rule runs a script on power cable connect / disconnect. The script also runs aplay to play a disconnect and connect sound. The udev rules are: # Name: 6...
