Re: MX Updater time intervals

This is prompted by a Facebook query, but is more for my own interest. How long is the time delay after boot until MX Updater does a check, and at what subsequent intervals does it re-check? TIA. Chris A cronjob does a check at a random time between 5 and 35 minutes after bootup if it's been more t...

Re: xfce4-weather-plugin error msg

I just checked in MX-18, I also see the message/warning in it. The message/warning is displayed in the Details tab, though it's still working (for now) and showing the information it's supposed to show. Screenshot.png I see that it's been reported in the xfce bugzilla https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_...

xfce4-weather-plugin error msg

Is anybody else seeing the following message with the xfce4-weather-plugin? Met.no sunrise API states that this version of the webservice is deprecated, and the plugin needs to be adapted to use a newer version, or it will stop working within a few months. Please file a bug on https://bugzilla.xfce....

Re: prefer the fonts of MX-16

the droid fonts used in mx15/16 are not included on 17 (the were no longer available IIRC). that's when we switched to the noto sans fonts. Could you "borrow" them from a MX15/16 install or loop mounted iso, i.e. copy their /usr/share/fonts/truetype/droid & /usr/share/fonts-droid/truetype folders o...

Re: Managed to get dual monitors to work (xorg.conf thingie)

The driver settings ARE stored somewhere, however since I have no /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nvidia.conf and no /etc/X11/xorg.conf I wonder what secret crevice on my system it tucks the stuff into. Current versions of the nvidia driver will work without a xorg.conf file and that's probably ...

Re: Managed to get dual monitors to work (xorg.conf thingie)

I don't think the nvidia drivers will work with the live system anyway, but I don't remember exactly. Back when I had a system with a FX5200 nvidia gpu, I was able to use the nvidia driver in a live session (after installing it while in the live session) by booting with the nomodeset and/or nouveau...

Re: MX-18 RC1 Feedback

Yes it works. Just not on public networks needing a login. I will also check it when I return to my home this weekend. Should work just fine there unless it doesn't give me the login screen... I can load (modprobe) the r8822be module but I don't have the hardware so don't know if it actually works ...

Re: MX-18 RC1 Feedback

Just checked, it's not there. Just saw Adrian's post, so there's some hope perhaps. Even on a 4.20 kernel (where it's still in staging) I'm unable to modinfo or modprobe a rt8822be or rtl8822be module, r8822be does work though kent@mx1:~ $ modinfo rt882be modinfo: ERROR: Module rt882be not found. k...

Re: Apt Repositories

I wonder if there's a apt.conf.d setting or something that could be changed to raise the '/var/lib/dpkg/status' pinning level to maybe '101' to keep it above the backports '100' pin level for when the testrepo isn't enabled? I couldn't find a apt.conf.d setting, but found if I added a /etc/apt/pref...

Re: Apt Repositories

After installing keepassxc from the testrepo I'm seeing this for apt-cache policy with stretch-backports enabled $ apt-cache policy keepassxc keepassxc: Installed: 2.3.4-0.1~mx17+1 Candidate: 2.3.4+dfsg.1-1~bpo9+1 Version table: 2.3.4+dfsg.1-1~bpo9+1 100 100 http://deb.debian.org/debian stretch-back...
