Q2: Enabled Repositories is Debian Repo being used. By default that is Stable but some users may be enabling lower or higher versions.
Q1. Maybe just download the package from the Debian site and install manually would work for you:

Try using MX Tweak and check the box on the last tab to shorten the names. If that's what you mean...

In other words: left click on the speaker icon and use the pull-down menu to change output. Then open Pulse Audio Volume Control and adjust " Output devices" and "Playback" as needed.
