"unpaper" = ?

While scanning with Gscan2pdf, I see a message scroll across the bottom that the program is busy "unpapering" the pages. What would that mean? Perhaps...removing parts of the images that look like paper?

Re: Microsoft Defender goes Linux

Yeah, why would I want to use a Microsoft anti-virus program when Linux has its own. One need not even concern themselves with it being a Microsoft product--irrelevant.

maybe I should upgrade to only MX-18

Someone early in the closed MX-19 thread suggested that one might as well stick with MX-18. What do you think? You see, until just now I have ignored 17 and 18 because their video never worked correctly on my Thinkpad T4xx and T500 laptops. And frankly, MX-16 fully met all my needs and I was quite h...

Re: Collapse OS

I find MX minimalist enough. I posted a post to that effect once.

Re: palemoon as firefox

Is this the right mindset--wanting to increase Pale Moon's similarity to Firefox when they were already similar? Or, wanting Pale Moon to be Firefox without Mozilla's branding? The opposite mindset would be: let's continue to preserve whatever subtle differences they may have. I no longer know what ...

custom liveCD failed - why?

I think my recently made custom liveDVD is no good, because my latest installation from it had two kernel panics within an hour of installation. I threw the disc out and reinstalled from an older custom liveDVD that I trust. My question is: which was more likely the problem: a bad burn or bad disc; ...

Re: MX is really something special

the MX system does install really well, & it looks really nice,, and it even detects all the hardware, properly. :hug: plus, it still runs that Older Hardware, quite well, when some other Linux System's don't .. . :eek: Yes, and when it doesn't run some older hardware, the MX team will probably...

Re: MX is really something special

(The only reason I quit using MEPIS, in early 2011, is because KDE had adopted that Plasma Desktop thing. I promptly dumped KDE and MEPIS.) <pedant> Mepis never used Plasma. Plasma is what they call KDE5. M12b, the last iteration of Mepis, used KDE4. </pedant> I stand corrected. KDE 4. I thought KD...

Re: Someone thinks firefox is better than Chrome now...

I have no idea whether Chrome is better, and I honestly don't care. I fear Google enough that I won't touch a Google product if I can easily avoid it. The only times I've ever used Chrome are when my online college courses forced me to, and even then, only on the school computers.

Re: MX is really something special

@ Seaken64 trinity is in the main MX repo. That trinity's description says "system call fuzz tester". It's not the Trinity desktop environment. There's Budgie, Gnome, KDE5 Plasma, LXDE, Cinnamon and MATE in the repos. Welcome to the forum and MX Linux, SUSEconvert. Yes, Trinity has its ow...
