Perhaps it needs systemd? Try booting with that.

From the Wiki:

When the GRUB screen is displayed at the very beginning of the boot process, click on Advanced options… and select to use systemd. Use MX Boot Options to make this the default.

As a first step, have a look in the BIOS/UEFI to see if there are any fan threshold settings. If it's set to 'quiet' by default, try another setting.

With nothing plugged in the port, in a terminal do:
Now plug something in, wait a moment, and repeat the command. Can you see the thing you have plugged in added to the list?

If every user knew whether a QSI was needed or not, we would get a lot less enquiries!

Some who help out on the forum may not have the expertise to answer an enquiry, but they can at least ask for the QSI to save a more knowledgeable person from having to do it.

I've used Intel NUCs with MX Linux and they run great. I've tried various generations of i5 CPUs. They use about 50% of the energy of a typical desktop machine.

I got my Pi 4 w/ 4 GB RAM performance increased with a left over Samsung sata 250 GB SSD. Now booting from the SSD. Bought a sata to USB 3 adapter and it's a definite improvement over an sd card! Increased the swap file to 2 GB to compensate for lower RAM. So far the SSD is holding out as it's at l...
