Re: KDE Connect won't work

Perhaps it needs systemd? Try booting with that.

From the Wiki:

When the GRUB screen is displayed at the very beginning of the boot process, click on Advanced options… and select to use systemd. Use MX Boot Options to make this the default.

Re: laptop fan won't spin regardless of load [Solved]

Welcome to the forum.

As a first step, have a look in the BIOS/UEFI to see if there are any fan threshold settings. If it's set to 'quiet' by default, try another setting.

Officially, Mozilla does not support using the configuration editor (“about:config”) to change default settings or add custom style rules using a userChrome.css file or userContent.css file.
...and yet the Mozilla Knowledge Base has several articles explaining how to do this.

Thank you; it's been a minor annoyance for me since the change.

Would you be OK with me copy/pasting this to the MX Facebook group please? I will of course credit you.

Re: MX 23.2 - Unrecognized USB Ports On Old System [Solved]

With nothing plugged in the port, in a terminal do:

Code: Select all

lsusb
Now plug something in, wait a moment, and repeat the command. Can you see the thing you have plugged in added to the list?

Re: May ruffle some feathers... QSI

If every user knew whether a QSI was needed or not, we would get a lot less enquiries!

Some who help out on the forum may not have the expertise to answer an enquiry, but they can at least ask for the QSI to save a more knowledgeable person from having to do it.

MD5 link malformed on Blog page

On the MX-23.2 Blog announcement, the link to download the MD5 for Fluxbox_x64 should be: https://sourceforge.net/projects/mx-linux/files/Final/Fluxbox/MX-23.2_fluxbox__x64.iso.md5/download but it fails, showing the file as unavailable. The URL in the error message has two full stops instead of an u...

Recently read where Asus is taking over from Intel...
That would be a good result.

Re: Looking for a Mini PC

I've used Intel NUCs with MX Linux and they run great. I've tried various generations of i5 CPUs. They use about 50% of the energy of a typical desktop machine.

Intel are phasing them out, which seems odd.

Re: Official Raspberry Pi Respin

I got my Pi 4 w/ 4 GB RAM performance increased with a left over Samsung sata 250 GB SSD. Now booting from the SSD. Bought a sata to USB 3 adapter and it's a definite improvement over an sd card! Increased the swap file to 2 GB to compensate for lower RAM. So far the SSD is holding out as it's at l...
