I don't currently have the 6.1 kernel installed on my MX-23.1ahs install so I can't check it, but the ftdi_sio module is present in the 6.5 kernel that MX-23.1ahs uses and looks like it supports the 0403:6001 pciid device. ...

Might need to manually download the gcc package too. I'll check later, I'm not at my computer right now (posting this from my phone). Okay, I plugged the old pc and EQ12 together and the LEDs are on/flashing! OK - so its obviously not a problem on the EQ12 side :happy: In this case - you should consider to send your DI into retirement and replace w#some more contemporary HW ...
