Re: MX 23 without systemd: how to get wsdd to autostart [Solved]
A useful write-up, thanks! As it is not that rare that stuff works well under (or is designed for) systemd but needs some "help" under SysVinit... perhaps a Wiki page collecting such how-tos (even if it has mostly links to such forum posts) might be a good idea (I tried to check the Wiki r...

Re: What keyboard model should I choose?
As fehlix has mentioned, many keys are inherited as defaults from other layouts, ie we're seeing layers of layouts, building on each other. For your "German (Switzerland)" layout "Latin" seems to be the "base layer": include "latin" name[Group1]= "German ...

Re: What keyboard model should I choose?
I can't check whether the following makes sense as I have no MX19 installed anymore. But if the /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/ch file in MX23 is similar to the MX19 version then you have a mismatch between your actual setting (seems to be "German (Switzerland)") and the setting you're referri...

Re: Mountpoint disappears after remastering
@dolphin_oracle Not sure what you mean. The "mnt/*" line I showed was nothing I did within the exclude file, that was in the file as it was installed, ie it is the default.

Re: Mountpoint disappears after remastering
I've always had to recreate the mountpoints below /mnt after doing a snapshot/remaster. I have other one-time inits to do so that's NBD. The live-remaster exclude file dolphin_oracle has mentioned has this among other stuff: live lost+found media/* media/.[^.]* mnt/* <-------------------------- excl...

@CharlesV Veracrypt! How could I forget that... many of my important files sit in a VC-encrypted volume.
@fan_of_LTS Yup, firejail is my no 11 or 12!
And never ever heard of axel... gotta have a look!

Re: Got this email today
Yup.. the bad actors are getting trickier and trickier! (And are using AI now too!) A couple months ago I asked chatGPT how many chemical elements are liquids at room temp. It listed 8, among others Gallium (melts at 29.76C). So we can safely assume that ChatGPT lives in a pretty hot room. (This bl...

Re: Got this email today
Actually @thomasl I think you have a great question. The wording on that email sound fishy enough to possibly be a phish attempt! Nope. Microsoft has my email address because I designated it as my emergency contact info for those instances when I get locked out of my one Win 11 computer because Mic...
