Re: NVidia 510 broke graphics [Solved]

I know this thread is marked solved however, it appears very similar to what has happened to my setup. Your problem is that you have a Kepler based card which isn't supported by drivers newer than the 470 series, so you have no chance of the 510 drivers working. With the 470.129.06 driver installed...

Re: NVidia 510 broke graphics [Solved]

Hi, I know this thread is marked solved however, it appears very similar to what has happened to my setup. I was running the kernel that I've now reverted to but tried the AHS kernel and this brought in the nvidia update. After experiencing (again it seems, similar issues to roundup) I also even los...

Mirror security [Solved]

It has long exercised my mind that with the number of worldwide mirrors available for updates and upgrades of the core system and applications, that one seems to have no option than blind faith in that the mirror itself is secure. Is this a cause for concern at all? I imagine that MX and upstream de...

Re: What distro do you favour? Beside MX/Antix of course...

PCLinuxOS (PCLOS) . Due to the MX that was running on my Lenovo not being supported anymore...My main machine (Clevo) is also out of MX support now. Just curious, would installing MX21 on those machines be a possible solution as well, so you wouldn't be running an unsupported version of MX? I'm gue...

Re: USB to SATA Hard Drive Adapters [Solved]

OK, my main interest is to recycle a internal desktop PC DVD unit, rather than purchase a new external DVD reader/writer, by getting a connector kit(skipping the caddy option). Then as figueroa has remarked, you should be able to pick up a cost effective adapter cable and so long as you don't mind ...

Re: What distro do you favour? Beside MX/Antix of course...

Hi Cristobal, I recently set up in Gnome Boxes (a virtualbox workalike that's available in the repos) and have tried several distros in it. Mint was pretty flawless in running but I deleted it and have currently EndeavourOS which seems to install and run just fine. That said, like you, I soon tire o...

Re: USB to SATA Hard Drive Adapters [Solved]

Tas, It's a little unclear to me what exactly you are trying to achieve. If what I have done with an external SSD enclosure might be similar to what you are attempting this is what I did. I purchased a very cost effective 240Gb WD SSD and an external enclosure which connects via USB to my desktop co...

Thanks again then Tim. These (many) drivers become a little bit arcane when you aren't playing around with them on a daily basis

Re: WiFi driver testing requested, realtek 8812au 8814au

As far as you still needing a tester with rtl8812au hardware, didn't siamhie (see that post) report all went well with the upgrade? siamhie has the rtl8814au hardware. Your current machine is unlikely to benefit from a newer kernel so I wouldn't worry about the driver for now. Tim, Here's the QSI f...
