Re: Easy md5sum checking
If you are a KDE aficionado, you can create an md5sum action in Dolphin. Copy this code into a xxx.desktop file in the directory /usr/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/ [Desktop Entry] Type=Service ServiceTypes=KonqPopupMenu/Plugin MimeType=application/x-iso;application/x-cd-image;inode/ISO-image; Ic...

Re: winndows close when moving with KDE/MX
A couple of questions: What themes and window decorations are you you using per your settings? Do you have compositing enabled, and if so, are you using any desktop effects? Does this problem occur if you move the window slowly? There was a similar bug reported here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show...

Re: Root password needed
If you don't remember your root password, then "sudo anything" won't work. But you can reset a lost root password by logging in single-user mode or resetting the password file through a boot disk. See those procedures here: http://linuxgazette.net/107/tomar.html Of course, these methods re...

Re: automagically removing duplicate commands from bash hist
Re: Bash command history in the terminal How do you show that? I'm assuming he's talking about the history you get when pressing the up arrow key (goes back in history), or down arrow key (goes forward). The ~/.bash_history file contains the full history. You can also search your bash history using...

Thanks, Dolphin. I'll unpin Chrome and try installing and running it later today. (But I'm keeping Adrian's .deb file handy just in case.)

Re: Error pages appear when thanking somebody
Well, I tried to reproduce the situation by thanking you and Rich, but the error didn't recur so it seems to be intermittent. If it happens again I'll snap a screen shot and post it.

Error pages appear when thanking somebody
Lately when clicking on the "thumbs up" thank you symbol at the bottom of people's posts, error pages pop up in my browser. Fortunately, my "thanks" still register on the forum when I close the error page. Any idea what could be causing this? FWIW my browser is Firefox Version 28...

... and this latest response from the google-chrome devs: There's no need for any additional debugging data at this point. Thanks. We'll try to test more often with 32-bit Debian computer so this won't happen again. Good idea, considering there are millions of 32-bit Debian users out there.
