Re: cron does not open programs or notifications on the display [Solved]

I don't think it's good idea to launch X programs from cron. There is more rigmarole to go through. For example copying the .Xauthority file to the home directory of the user you want to run the program as. In addition. The "export" command does not do what you think it does. The command y...

Re: Installing live mx19.3 on 128gb drive

The (crappy) fat32 file system limits files to 4 GiB. I encourage you to make a full featured live-usb with our live-usb-maker tool. It's fast and easy. You can even use it if you only have one stick available (although it's slightly easier with two). If you only have the one stick then we will have...

Re: zstd compressed live system boots much faster!

If I'm not wrong, in the above commands, zstd is not used in multithreaded mode (missing -T0 or -T). However, it's passed on to another command, so I maybe wrong... Also, ultra level 22 might be way too high... How about regular levels like 10-16? You're right. The mksquashfs program takes care of ...

zstd compressed live system boots much faster!

I tried compressing the live linuxfs file with zstd compression as suggested by @agnivo007. I booted to run level 3. You can use "start-t login" to see the delay between when the kernel started and when the login program started. The average over 3 boots decreased from 12.7 seconds down to...

Re: DaVinci_Resolve doesn't like amdgpu

A search for (davinci resolve amdgpu) provided several solutions such as this one: How to install DaVinci Resolve on Ubuntu with AMD GPUs. This solution uses MakeResolveDeb which creates a .deb file so the Debian packaging system knows what's going on.

Re: ISO filesize too big

The old PC I'd like to install AntiX on doesn't support booting from USB. If the machine has a usb port (even though you can't directly boot from it) we have an easy work-around, called a hybrid boot. Make a live dvd/cd and a live-usb with the same kernel then you can start the boot with the cd/dvd...

Re: Live USB Persistence slightly changed? [Solved]

"Customize boot menu(text menu)" worked, thanks. one have to go through all the settings again, the other way is much more convenient The function key menus in our legacy bootloader were created using gfxboot. But sadly, this only works with BIOS bootloading, not with UEFI. It's tightly i...
