Re: Flash drive encryption with mx system
If you want to run the snapshot as a live-usb then simply use live-usb-maker with the "encrypt" option enabled. Encryption and decryption is not hardware dependent. If you want to put the snapshot .iso file on an encrypted partition you could still use live-usb-maker with the "encrypt...

Re: it87 sensor module
JayM thank you for your work on this! On my ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus (WIFI) mobo, the situation is slightly different. Adding the following boot parameter made a big difference: acpi_enforce_resources=lax With that boot parameter and the nct6775 module, the floodgates opened. I get many more tempe...

Re: it87 sensor module
The 5.8.0 kernel in MX-19.3-ahs has an it87 module already. So do the antiX kernels going back to at least the 4.9.235 kernel in antiX-19.3. Would these suffice?
Also, I was unable find or clone the github repo mentioned in the article: https://github.com/groeck/it87.git.

Re: New SSD Installation not booting without Live USB ! [Solved]
Firmware manufacturers tie GPT partitioning to UEFI booting. No GPT? It's legacy MBR booting for you, young man! This is not true in general. For example the live-usb-maker live-usb can use either gpt or msdos partitioning and it can boot legacy and UEFI with either form of partitioning. But I agre...

Re: New SSD Installation not booting without Live USB ! [Solved]
How did you do the clone? What program did you use? This may be at the heart of your problems. Also, the live boot loader has a rescue system created by our fehlix. If you booted legacy then you need to switch to grub (from syslinux). If you booted uefi then you are already in grub. It will look for...

You can also change the kernel directly on a live system using live-remaster and live-kernel-updater. These tools have easy to use CLI versions so you can change kernels even if you can't get to X.

I thought we used to have a thumbs-up feature to mark posts we liked. I found this to be very handy. For example I used it to let people know I had read their post (or reply). Sort of a "got it" without having to post.

Re: zstd compressed live system boots much faster!
FWIW: using a 5.10.0 kernel and zstd-15 compression for the live initrd.gz, I saved nearly 1 second on boot times. The average of 3 boots dropped from 12.19 to 11.26. The zstd-15 initrd.gz was about 1.7 Meg smaller. edit: lz4 decompresses faster than zstd-15. Using zstd-15 for linuxfs and initrd.gz ...

Re: zstd compressed live system boots much faster!
I have read that Zstd needs a lot of CPU/RAM while doing its decompression stuff. If that is the case, then it is not a good option for antiX. https://sysdfree.wordpress.com/2020/01/04/293/ That article misses the point IMO. It judges resource use during compression , not decompression. It seems ob...

Thanks @Michael_Logies! This feedback is very valuable. I hope the documentation team takes notice.
