Re: The new computer build

To be fair, the OEM cooler will keep the CPU cool enough to outlast its warranty for 90%+ of users. I've seen them survive 70ᵒ C average temps for years. I did try the oem cooler on my last desktop build - it was the noise rather than the temps that made me go aftermarket. The small oem cooler fan r...

Re: MX Linux and ATI

From the tests I've read, the open-source amdgpu driver has had better 3d performance than the "pro" version Linux for over a year now.

The only reason to use the amdgpu-pro driver is to use OpenCL programs which use your video card as a cpu instead of a gpu to speed up tasks like bitcoin mining.

Re: Packages being worked on by the Repo Team

scrcpy 1.9 for MX-19 (scratch build) This is the app that mirrors your android phone on the desktop & lets you control it with mouse & keyboard. It was slightly odd to build because it requires Android Studio. Perfectly fine to build with that & distribute the results, but not OK to package Android ...

Re: Packages being worked on by the Repo Team

I can do that.
It wasn't necessary because your MX17 version does remember properly, but the new one works fine in Buster.
One thing I did notice - I had to remove the ~/.config/featherpad folder to get the new version's preferences to stick.
Don't know if that's the same on stretch.

Re: Packages being worked on by the Repo Team

Featherpad 0.10 for Buster since their version won't remember size or options.

Re: system reg and the 10 digit number

It has to do with having Wine see Linux serial ports. I assume you have already made the required symlinks. Instead of editing directly, try using wine's regedit wine regedit Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\SERIALCOMM and map \Serial3 to COM3 exactly as \Serial1 is mapped to COM1 Y...

Re: gcdemu/cdemu dbus daemon start error

4: deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org/ stretch main non-free It's in the deb-multimedia repository (the -dmo in the version tells you that). We ship with the deb-multimedia repository disabled because their packages often cause dependency issues. It's in the list at all because of a few encumbered p...

Re: Raspberry 4

Search for "x86 single board computers". There are several including the Atomic Pi & Udoo x86.
Never having tried to install MX on one of these there's no guarantee - but they're running Intel Atom chips so it should be possible.

Re: gcdemu/cdemu dbus daemon start error

Gcdemu is not found in the MX repositories (Main or Test), nor in the Debian repos.
Please post the results of

Code: Select all

inxi -r
so we can see your repo list.

Re: [Request] bspwm & sxhkd

When you installed i3wm from Test it brought in the libxcb-xinerama0 from Test. -dev pacakages must match the versions of their libraries exactly. So go to MXPI -> MX Test Repo -> uncheck the "hide library and developer packages" box and install your -dev package from Test where it has been since Ma...
