Re: Primus laptops

primus laptops have a Intekl Graphic Card and a Nvidia graphic card and just installing a Nvidia driver, sadly, doesn't work. I think you will find they are usually referred to as 'Optimus' computers. The two alternative commands under Bumblebee solutions are 'optirun' or 'primusrun'. You can searc...

Re: April snapshots are up

Just updated February to April without a hitch. This is such a great idea, especially when I'm constantly trying to convert new users to the cause and now don't have to take them through masses of updates post install. This late in the cycle that is an important issue. Always looking to improve life...

Re: How many of you need a 32 bit distro?

I support a couple of hundred users still. Whilst I have moved to 64bit for my own computing, I still have around 30-35 'clients' who only have 32bit hardware. I, therefore, keep an old Asus AJ6C 32bit only as a functional option to support these folk with. I would like to see the option remain for ...

Re: MX-16 public-beta1 available for testing.

@tascoast wrote Don't overlook the option of an additional Panel, say with favorites or handy tools, auto-hide or with some transparency (via Windows Manager Tweak-Compositor [check enable]). I always run a 2nd panel as a launcher of favourite apps. This has been my only hiccup since install on test...

Re: MX 15 respin for cutting-edge hardware?

PM to be sent soon to avoid further highjacking of this thread. Whilst the details of discussions to resolve this took place in PM, I thought I should just quickly mention here that my initial problem with recognition of the usb stick has been resolved by changing the case of the folders 'efi' & 'e...

Re: Add Galternatives for MX 16?

I would love to see this app included! I am an old CLI junkie from way back, but, update-alternatives is such a pain to deal with at times. Not used very often but this is one case where the GUI front end makes SUCH a big difference to usage.

cheers,
greywolf.

Re: MX 15 respin for cutting-edge hardware?

Hi @BitJam. I figured this conversion here would bring us together again?! :) One of the reasons I offered to test this work was because I thought it might shed some light on the Antix16 issue. This is a quite strange situation for me, not something I have had to deal with in the past. I'm thinking ...

Re: MX 15 respin for cutting-edge hardware?

With multi graphics machines, you may still have to use safe video mode to get a working display, then follow a procedure to get bumblebee installed. The stock 4.2.0 kernel handles these quite well, it's the graphics engine that gets confused until it's told to select the appropriate driver, unless...

Re: MX 15 respin for cutting-edge hardware?

I'd probably test it, curious to see whether it detects/supports all 6 cores of i7-3930K (To date, the stock kernels have not. Was I expected to cheatcode something or change some config?) Where would you upload? FWIW, I'm not a googleDocs user/accountholder. I would be happy to test, primarily on ...
