Re: "Linux is about choice"

He describes the Linux I came through - 1988 (then early 90's in earnest) to now. Nowadays I find I have to bite my tongue and aplogise a lot to newbies because I dare to suggest they get out of the way of their own shadow and participate in their own solutions?! Still, great journey, have not had a...

Re: Fonts on Featherpad look ugly

I think you will find Featherpad is a Qt application, not gtk. Consequently, you will need to set & save fonts in the "qt5ct" package. Search the menu for qt5 - I think it is called "Qt5 Settings". Match the fonts to those set in your "Appearance" tab of system settings. Alternatively, install "Medi...

Re: Monthly snapshot announcement

Totally agree with @Adrian here @fehlix; great little script. Likewise only had to get 13%. Works like a charm.

Can do a lot more new installs for people with this. So many of these "younguns" to Linux just don't get the power of the OS; its CLI and subsequent scripting?! :)

cheers,

Re: MX-Cleanup won't run twice

I push a update to the package that doesn't clean /tmp. It should be in the repos already or soon. I haven't seen the code Adrian, but, I was wondersing if a compromise could work? For those that reboot their machine only very occasionally, kernel update and such, cleaning /tmp can be advantageous....

Re: [SOLVED] Update to repo version of Refind bootloader

Just a brief update - new repo version of ReFind working perfectly well here. No problems, and thanks again Stevo!

Re: Update to repo version of Refind bootloader

It's in Debian testing, so a backport is probably not going to be too difficult. I would assume that "acp" command is your own alias for "apt-cache policy"? I have a vast list of aliases that I use (mainly because I spend so much time in a terminal) and sometimes I have been using them for so long ...

[SOLVED] Update to repo version of Refind bootloader

ReFind is one of the few "multi" bootloader options receiving fairly constant development work. For those of us who multi-boot systems ( I support a number of people using different distros) it is a very useful tool. The version in the repos has become quite outdated - 0.10.4-1. I was wondering if t...

Re: mx-live-usb-maker inconsistency

One extra thought I had guys, as I did not recall this happening on my MX17 install at all ( and I write LOTS of sticks). This machine has 16Gb memory. Would that make a difference to the size of the buffering mentioned; and therefore to the speed with which the process thinks it is finished? I have...
