Re: Help needed to create a custom install set using Horizon (17.1)

so when you make the iso off the usb, you do these steps (correct me when I'm wrong).

1. boot the live-usb w/persistence
2. run mx-snapshot to produce an iso.
3. that iso has your apps
4. but running install with the iso, the installed system does not have your apps.

Is that sequence correct?

Re: Help needed to create a custom install set using Horizon (17.1)

that's real weird, especially if missing from the menu.

if they are present on the iso, they should be present on the installed system. the installer doesn't remove anything.

so if zoom is present (from a deb?) then can you run it from the command line?

Re: Help needed to create a custom install set using Horizon (17.1)

@dolphin_oracle I'm so close but yet so far. I must be doing something 'basic' wrong. (perhaps... there is a loose nut on the keyboard :p ) As of this writing, I am able, using MX-snapshot and persist-all, to create an ISO that acts and behaves as I want it to. The generation of this iso is built u...

Re: MX-17.1: What can you use a PS/2 port for (other than connecting a mouse or a keyboard to it)?

Just be careful. We had a guy in our office some years ago that went through computers pretty fast. We tracked it down to his cleaning schedule. He would unplug his his keyboard and mouse when he pull out his tower to clean behind it. It didn't catxh him every time but it got him enough that we did ...

Re: MX-17.1: What can you use a PS/2 port for (other than connecting a mouse or a keyboard to it)?

I don't think you would want to use a PS/2 port for anything other than a keyboard. The system still sees a USB-to-PS/2 adapter as a PS/2 port (at least I think so), so you wouldn't be able to use it for anything anyway. you used to see these things all the time when the keyboard manufacturers were ...

Re: Distrowatch reveiw grumbles

hi! Just to let you know that Google Earth auto-updated from MX update... I guess that "con" is stricked out... Too bad I can't point that out on my review on distrowatch. I think it would not be "fair" to do another review and give MX 10 again, just to mention this. I notice that it's ( Google Ear...

Re: mx-snapshot 8.9 FAT32 et NTFS

Hello Since version 18.8 snapshots backups become impossible on FAT 32 and NTFS while it was handy when you have a USB key and a PC under Windows. Do you intend to allow this again Thank you for this development (MX linux 17.1) what do you mean by impossible? the changes in 18.8 shouldn't affect an...

Thanks dolphin_oracle,
If I should need to have an MX running in an external USB drive, what would be the application to do that?
Regards

mx-live-usb-maker is the new gui.

Re: snapshots with nvidia

you should be able to, but they're might be a couple of gotchas. Your particular graphics may require an xorg.conf file, which is exempted from the snapshots by default. and because the blacklist file under /etc/modprobe.d IS included in the snapshot, your system ends up not loading any X graphics d...
