Re: Office suite

I have had compatibility problems with LibreOffice and documents created with MS Office Hi. I'm reviving this older post just to add some info about incompatibility of "MS Office" files. It's not a Linux only problem... Recently a friend of mine asked for help because she was not able to print a do...

Re: Help with GIMP - can't change hardness of paintbrush (diameter size)

Not a productive answer: But am I the only dirty mind that thought funny someone complaining about changing the hardness of their brush??? Now seriously: I'm no longer a heavy GIMP user, but probably any one of the answers you got should help you solve your problem. My best guess would be re...

Linux App Store - linuxappstore.io

Finally someone started a global Linux App Store! I only found out about this yesterday, I'm just checking it out... It does not yet allow to directly search the app's description, but it offers Appimage (my favorite OS independent package), Flatpacks and Snaps! It's a great idea for those of us tha...

Re: OpenBox Re-spin

As for OB being abandoned or 'functionally stabilized', I was not aware. That actually seems reason enough to move on to another wm (like iceWM which is still alive, so far as I can tell.). Hi Manyroads! iceWM (or my favorite Fluxbox) is a good wm to go, and also has a "plus" - it can make MX and a...

Re: I need help figuring if I should do as MX update tells me and remove some files

Thanks for your answers! I'll wait until I enlarge my linux partition and then I'll have enough space for doing a backup, and then I'll try to update. One last question: It's my understanding that I can run MX updater as is without it removing java/icedtea ? I have a old firefox appimage I run when ...

I need help figuring if I should do as MX update tells me and remove some files

Hi. I need some help about the packages I can safely remove from my system. I installed Mx 17.1 and via several upgrades I'm now with Mx 18.2 A upgrade several months ago caused some problems with Nvidea drivers, saying it was safe to remove some files that were not (safe to uninstall, I mean). Sinc...

Re: Difference between antiX and MX

Not to worry. I "DO" like your idea of putting the same UI on both antiX & MX. I have and am doing that. Want to help? :bagoverhead: sorry for the delay, manyroads: I don't really have much free time now a days... But if you want I can send you my "antix Fluxbox transformation pack", so you c...

Re: Difference between antiX and MX

As you may have noted... I am building an OpenBox version of MX (re-spin). OpenBox is a windows manager not a Desktop Environment. I will try to port the OpenBox, I build over to antiX. I think with a similar UI on both OSes, you'll get a much better idea of the 'under the hood' differences. Beside...

Re: WPS 11.x - available in Package Installer & How-to change language UI if installed via .deb

to Pierre: Thanks, I forgot to add the WPS *.deb webpage link in my original post. Also thanks for reminding me about the "free" version: Windows and Android WPS versions are "trial" (functional but a bit crippled) versions, wich is not the case for WPS for Linux. It's a 100% free and 100% working o...

Re: Cleanest Desktop Environment and theme for MX?

What do you mean by "quick-launch"? If you mean a already installed theme that you only have to select, no, I belive there is none that emulates WinXP. You can download and install this one, for example: https://www.xfce-look.org/p/1230964/

I hope this helps you, SudoLuna
