Re: What was your first Linux distro?

hi, everyone. My first distro? Knoppix, from a cd-rom that came with a pc magazine I bought some 20 years ago was my first linux distro experience, running Live from a cd-rom that took a few minutes to boot. I have very good memories of the "magic" experience that was using something different, that...

Drill - new application to quickly search for a file by it's name

Hi, folks I know Linux has many options for searching files (locate, recoll, etc, etc). But I randomly found a new and extremely fast option to locate files (faster than "locate" in cli). Drill (https://github.com/yatima1460/Drill). Downloads available from https://github.com/yatima1460/Drill/releas...

Re: antiX19a2 (xfce, openbox and more?) personal project(s)/ test

Hi! @ MArk/Manyroads: sorry for the long rant that follows... At least having a antiX XFCE version is in accordance to what I've sometimes talked about in the forums, for about a year, on and off- to me it makes sense that antiX and MX share a more similar User Interface. I like that, I'm willing to...

Re: Stable, functional, lightning-fast, light-weight, works OOTB

Mx is exactly what I was looking for in an OS. It is stable, responsive, functional, versatile, lightning-fast, and light-weight. Bodhi was light-weight (~200 mb RAM) and looked really nice, but I ran into functionality problems with LibreOffice, which is a basic essential for me. (Specifically, th...

Re: Homogenizing antiX19 User Interface (proof of concept)

Veryyy nice, Mark! I'm partial to the default Mx windows decoration, I belive it should be available to all DE's in antiX (I have it in FB only) and you showed it in "https://ibb.co/DDmMyqS" ! I always wanted a similar user experience using either Mx or antiX, it just makes sense to me, because I us...

Re: Installing Latest LIBREOFFICE

You can live safely on the edge, using LibreOffice via appimage. Libreoffice.org is has the best appimage support I ever officially found on a application: check it out over at https://www.libreoffice.org/download/appimage/ there's a fresh, a stable version... They have it all, you can run multiple ...

Re: OpenBox Re-spin

As for fluxbox, I have to say it is a bit peculiar. The worst thing I've found are the panel and how it handles icons (you can use anything you want so long as it's square.). Hi Mark! We are away off topic here (the thread is about Openbox Re-spin), but I didn't get what you mean about the FB panel...

Re: OpenBox Re-spin

Plus I'll share my setup scripts etc so anyone (not afraid of cli) can do it themselves where ever they like (on a debian platform). Nice, Mark! I only asked this because I'm the guy that sent you my antiX Fluxbox "transformation pack" and was curious if you would be doing anything with that ...

Re: antiX-19-a1-full (64 bit) available

I'm a bit late to this thread, but I just now tested antiX 19 alpha 1, via Live USB My opinion? Very, very fast and stable. It's the first time I ever recall testing a Alpha version of any distro! It uses a tiny bit more ram on idle. Finally, it comes with a newer version of LibreOffice ! :-) It no ...

Re: OpenBox Re-spin

Hi Mark/ManyRoads I just got a new usb pen drive and used it to do a very quick test of your OpenBox MX. Here are some quick notes: First, the positive remarks: 1- The initial desktop image was jaw dropping (a kind of sunset, but almost instantly it got replaced by another one, also very beautiful)-...
