Yes it does and as I said it does not provide any progress or status at all which is not good from my point of view.

I make all of mine in dd mode and there is no status/progress update at all - you select start and the program just disappears. If the USB stick does not have an LED, you don't even know if it's doing anything. When it finishes, it finally pops up an all done window (assuming you thought it was work...

Messing around as root generally leads to permission issues and other stuff. If you use a generic user, and get it working as the generic user, it will work when you share the ISO as long as they log in as the generic user. Much of the data and config details for programs are stored in your home dir...
