Re: Need to Change Resolution

My guess is that nvidia-xconfig has not been able to read your monitor specs and has entered too restrictive figures in xorg.conf. I suspect that because that happened with my (now deceased) SyncMaster 19" monitor. In your xorg.conf you should have a section that looks like this: Section "Monitor" ...

Re: Need to Change Resolution

If that doesn't work, your card is supported by the legacy nvidia driver 304.137-1 that we have in the main repos, so you can use the nvidia installer in MX-Tools to install the proprietary driver. Tried that and it was 303.137-5 instead of -1. On reboot I have a black screen and flashing line. The...

Re: Need to Change Resolution

So the commands to copy into a terminal (one line at a time, pressing Enter after each) are xrandr --newmode 1680x1050 8.00 1680 1728 1888 2096 60 63 73 76 -hsync +vsync xrandr --addmode default 1680x1050 xrandr -s 1680x1050 When you hit enter on the last one the resolution should change. If the sc...

Re: Need to Change Resolution

It might be that the free "nouveau" driver from Debian Stretch that's our default does not support your card. How old is it? The proprietary Nvidia driver might give you a better result. If you really want to stick with the open source driver, we have a newer version, backported from Deban testing,...

Re: Need to Change Resolution

I'm back and the card is MSI NX 7900 GS ver 1.0a. Display just shows default for monitor which is a Samsun SyncMaster 215TW 21 inch. We had the 1680x1050 on MX 14, 15 and 16. Yes it supports up to 2560x1600 I had an old card/monitor combination where I had to add the resolution manually with an auto...

Re: Need to Change Resolution

richb wrote:There is a 1650x1080 option in Settings> Display. Click on the resolution entry to see the dropdown. Try that.
I tried that but it's not listed there, just 1280x1024 which is being used and 1024x768, 800x600, 640x480.
