This may help https://mxlinux.org/wiki/system/uefi/
I don't care much for UEFI but this looks like a nice resource. I noticed the page references missing PNG images (their src being localhost). Perhaps this happened during the recent site conversion ? Can someone notify Jerry3904 ?

Re: files on ntfs (windows 10) partition appear as read only.

Probably related to windows fastboot, either disable it or try what i suggested here

Also, please show us the output of the "mount" command, so we can see if the filesystem is mounted read-only (or else you have a permission problem)

Re: Network Name Change.

Not sure if there's a GUI tool for that, but you can simply edit the /etc/hostname file

Code: Select all

$ sudo nano /etc/hostname
or obviously whichever editor you happen to prefer, but you'll need root access (hence sudo)

Then you will need to reboot for the change to take effect

Re: [SOLVED] AMD Cool'n'Quiet causes lock-ups

Are you sure your BIOS is set to enable CnQ, or PowerSavings or whatever the phrasing ? it may default to MaxPerformance, IOW nominal speed at all times. edit: I booted my opteron system with an MX17.1-amd64 DVD I have (hence kernel 4.15), the cpufreq plugin shows the CPU frequency varying between 1...
