Re: Debian Buster

I'm not speaking officially, maybe others have more to add or correct. AFAIK a release of antiX-19 using Buster is planned for this spring. We could certainly use help there with alpha and beta testing. The MX release usually follows the antiX release. Again there we can use help with alpha and beta...

Re: Live USB with persistance

Bitjam, that's awesome. How come it's not more publicised that LUM is available for installation in other distros? IDK. Probably nobody (including me) thought it was a big deal. If you know of a place where this information could be usefully put, that would be awesome! My last stab and PR was over ...

Re Linux Counter, the database is no longer maintained and is not available.
Probably due to an integer overflow.

Re: Live USB with persistance

Whoa! You mean I can install live-usb-maker on my Xubuntu box? Cool! I'm going to try that when i get home! Yep! It was developed on Gentoo and it was originally designed to be used by a developer at OSDisc . I don't even know what version of Linux they run. And BTW, OSDisc was a fount of informati...

Re: Change fb resolution during initialization?

I don't have a solution for you. I imagine you are booting via UEFI and your grub.cfg is setting the GFX_PAYLOAD to use your native screen resolution (or it is doing that automatically by default). I believe the LUKS password is asked for inside the initrd environment which is contained in the file ...

Re: drive unreadable

I checked the WD drive on another old laptop running Q40S with kernal version 4.9.0-0 .bpo.5-amd64 and it seems to be 100% accessible - so that suggests a similar experience to one user with a USB stick which was not readable just on MX linux. I am relieved that the drive seems fine - it is MX that...

(P.S. My tag is 'fatmac' on the other forum.)
Hey fatmac! I did not recognize you! Did you report the antiX Firefox problem?

PS: I agree with you that these forums are much easier to use.

Re: Is it possible to create a live usb MX18.2 with _persistence_ WITHOUT any linux (pre)installed on the hard drive?

Designer here. It is just as seaken64 and BV206 said. Step 1) Boot with whatever live-usb or live-dvd have you. Plug in a 2nd-usb stick. Run live-usb-maker (any version, GUI or cli) and select the clone option. It will create a full featured live-usb that is able to do persistence. This clone featur...

Re: MX 18.xx broken

Sometimes hard drives go bad. The gsmartcontrol utility should give you more info but it does not work with all usb enclosures. There is also a possible kernel bug that only affects some hardware and may have been introduced in the 4.15.0 version of the kernel. If you try an earlier kernel, like 4.1...

Re: Countdown from 100 -> 20 --> #1

My last prediction was wildly off but now I predict the big day will be tomorrow (in US timezones).
