I remember starting it with a statement something like: "I've always wanted to do an Xfce version but don't think I have the chops." But I can't find that any more.
I think that was in 2013 and topics with no posts after 2013 seem to have disappeared. We need an archivist!!

Re: Thunar Custom Actions--- what do you use & like

I only make one change. I edit the Symlink Custom Action to:

Code: Select all

ln -s %f $(yad --width=640 --height=480 --center --file --directory --filename=%f --save --confirm-overwrite=oops)
Thanks to kmathern!

This makes it much easier to create my 20-odd data symlinks on installation.

Re: MX-18 Screenshots

As some know, I was not a fan of the wallpaper that became the MX-18 default, but I have come to appreciate it more and more, and downright love it with MX-CoreBlue conky under the wave (maybe more for decoration than actual information). I loved the wallpaper and wasn't a fan of Conkys, but this c...

Re: MX-18 beta 1 feedback

I set the timezones, clicked next, and the installer vanished ! (not sure what happened, did I press a wrong button??!!?!?) Possibly an installer crash, it never happened to me at that step though... not sure what's went on. This also happened for me the first time, but I was distracted by conversa...

Re: MX-18 beta 1 feedback

The boot edit worked fine - posting from MX-18 Beta now. I have 10 minutes to look around.

Re: MX-18 beta 1 feedback

Live usb booted OK and went straight to install on SSD. Halfway through install notifier showed 1 update - mx-welcome. Ignored it. Did not install grub - booted MX-17 to update grub, then booted 18 Beta. Boot failed early. screen messages far more voluble that previously, but the final ones were: Ru...

Re: 32 bit UEFI with 64 bit processor

MX wouldn't recognise the wifi card which card was that? I'm not absolutely sure but I think it was Realtek RTL8723BE. I may be wrong with the final letters. I was never able to get the info in linux - inxi reported 'No network card found'. I eventually found a driver on the Debian site but with a ...

Re: 32 bit UEFI with 64 bit processor

Last year I had an HP Detachable laptop with 32-bit UEFI on 64-bit processor. At the time, the MX installer didn't support this but with a lot of help from BitJam I managed to modify the installation to boot successfully. The changes we worked out were subsequently incorporated in the installer, so ...
