@WarhawkCZ - You've gladdened Jerry's heart. The Manual is mainly his work.

Re: What are your first steps after installing MX Linux?

The whole document that holds all the instructions for me is 25 pages long, a bit too long to list all that here, this summary is long enough already ;) I'm a great believer in brevity, so my list is one page - a mixture of general and individual items. The spreadsheet is attached. MX-18 install.ods

Re: Moving Thunderbird Profile from one computer to another

1. Since Thunderbird opened your emails correctly, you don't need to follow skidoo's instructions re file permissions.

2. Which version of Thunderbird do you have? I'm currently on 52.9.1 and Lightning runs fine. I've used it through various versions over the last 10 years and not had a problem.

It's in the hidden folder /.thunderbird which you'll find in your home folder. Ctrl-H in Thunar.

I voted sysVinit - I have booted sytemd a few times to see what difference it made. I found nothing significant.

Darn, that would have made a good Youtube video.
We could have Mr and Mrs. Dolphin make one and have a disclaimer, "Actors are playing the parts". ;)
But how do you persuade Windows to update on cue, instead of when MS chooses?

Re: How access Word docs on dual boot machine?

If you've set up shares to data folders, then virtually no risk. Mounting a system partition read/write in another system invites errors. I have done it in the past but for one-off file operations. I wouldn't have the partition mounted on a regular basis.

Re: How access Word docs on dual boot machine?

I have all my data files on two data partitions, one NTFS, the other ext4. I can access these from any of my OSs. I have two NTFS partitions for a similar purpose (a small one encrypted, the other one really big but not encrypted) and refrained from using ext4 for that because I found no reliable w...
