Re: MX23 - Printer=Good but Screensaver=BAD
I have already turned it off under Power Manager > Display; So what is blanking/locking the screen? Is it Bug or a Feature? I can't believe that no one else has this problem. It has never been an issue on previous versions. Just to add insult to injury, my first attempt at posting this reply failed ...

Re: MX23 - Printer=Good but Screensaver=BAD
xfce4-screensaver has already been purged - and shows as not installed in Synaptic - so something else is blanking (and locking) the screen?

MX23 - Printer=Good but Screensaver=BAD
Firstly, I was amazed and pleased to find that my Wifi printer (Canon TS5100) had been automatically discoered and installed. Are the drivers built in to the system or is it using the Cloud? But, up until MX23, MX has been a joy and recommended to friends. However MX23 has been a nightmare - especia...

Re: Root password MX-23
Thanks for replies. At the moment I, Synaptic or MX ore in Limbo! As usual with a fresh install. on of my first actions is to update using Synaptic. Unfortunately the "screensaver" kicked in, blanked the screen except for the cursor and wouldn't resume so had to resort to Ctrl+| Alt+BkSp w...

Re: Root password MX-23
That doesn't work!
Surely root privileges are required to make such a change?

Root password MX-23 [Resolved]
I set the root password (imaginatively) to root during installation. However, it is rejected when demanded (eg by Synaptic). The usb live session uses demo but that doesn't work either. I have installed 3 times so far with the same result. Is it possible to reset the root pw if I don't know what the...

Re: MX live usb not booting.
I recognise this is a device (HP) problem not MX- it boots perfectly on any other machine which seems determined to treat everything as UEFI regardless of BIOS settings being Legacy Having said that an old PClos live usb does boot fine and seems fine with UEFI! and says it's booting in that mode. Ju...

Re: MX live usb not booting.
Sorry, I didn't realise there was any ambiguity!
When I fire up the MX-19.4 live usb (created with Rufus in Win) instead of showing the Grub menu to select MX live I just get a grub> prompt. Since it works fine on all other machines, assume the proplem lies with some setting in the HP Bios?
