Re: hplip drivers do not see printer after recent updates

Use Synaptic to look at hplip hplip-data hplip-gui libhpmud0 libsane-hpaio printer-driver-hpcups If one or more of those are missing, or of a different version than the rest, then install the missing one(s) and/or upgrade the wrong version one and try the HP Toolbox again. If you have them all at 3....

Re: ZFS 0.7.12-1-mx17+1 Wont Build

The zfs-linux 0.7.9 is still available in the MX-17 Test repository. You should be able to enable Test and force downgrade in Synaptic. Just make sure to disable Test afterwards.

Re: vlc error

Installing the nvidia-vdpau-driver package gets rid of the libvdpau warning, although I can't fathom why part of the the proprietary nvidia driver set is required for Vbox video. Graphics: Device-1: InnoTek Systemberatung VirtualBox Graphics Adapter driver: vboxvideo v: 5.2.22 r126460 bus ID: 00:02....

Re: vlc error

That setting is available in VLC Video settings from within VLC. Still do not thing we should get hung up on this in relation to running in VBox. That is, that setting would be there were vlc not segfaulting upon trying to open it. The vlc in question is the debian version so while we might be able...

Re: vlc error

Sometimes you forget to check the simplest things...
Shut down (not save current state) your VM, go into Settings -> Display for that VM and check the Enable 3d Acceleration box.
When you restart your VM vlc should work again.

Re: vlc error

Confirmed. Same vlc version does the same thing on Vbox for me. It works fine on both nVidia & Radeon hardware installs. I tried reinstalling the VirtualBox guest additions but that did not help. I tried vlc from the Test repo, no better. The vlc in experimental wouldn't install. I can play videos b...

Re: Multiple programs stopped working or having errors after update

You could try installing wine-staging-4.0-rc1 from the Test repository. Just mark wine-staging-compat and it should upgrade the rest of the wine packages as well.

Re: vlc error

You can only use the vdpau backend in VLC if you are using nVidia hardware with the nVidia driver. In a Virtual Machine, you are not using the nVidia driver, but the VirtualBox (or equivalent Virtual host if not using Vbox) driver instead. Try using: vlc --reset-config collina.avi If it works, you s...

Re: Debian Social Contract & Code of Conduct

Curious that so many focus on the Forums when neither set of rules has anything to do with the forums but rather with communication of issues and organizational conduct regarding the OS and how items are dealt with between users (aka. buyers) and problems which may arise. Not so curious since most ...
