Re: MX-16.1: KDE applications don't list Nemo-created bookmarks, nor "recently opened" files or folders

Since Okular is a product of the KDE team, it uses the same KDE libraries that Dolphin uses for manipulating files, so it does see and use Dolphin Bookmarks. KDE & Gnome don't handle bookmarks the same way so it's not surprising that KDE program doesn't see a Gnome bookmark. Gimp doesn't see eit...

Re: Update Monday 12th Packages cannot be authenticated

It's actually not possible for nl to have packages before Utah. nl uses apt-mirror to acquire the packages & indicies from Utah. nl will get them about 7 minutes before la though.

The times are staggered. nl at 8 past the hour, la at 15 past, it at 21 past.

Re: Update Monday 12th Packages cannot be authenticated

That's odd, since all MX packages go to Utah first, and from there to the mirrors. L.A., Netherlands & Italy mirrors update from Utah hourly.

Re: System update = security risk ??

It's possible that one of the repository keys is expired or otherwise missing.
If you run

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
in a terminal there will be a message if this is the case.

Re: Question about third party power adaptors for monitors

There's nothing wrong with the third party ones as seen here: https://www.amazon.com/Ineedup-Adapter-Samsung-SyncMaster-P2770FH/dp/B01MZ0FGZD/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1510495891&sr=1-5&keywords=ac+adapter+14V&dpID=41-Txem9JdL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch This...

Re: What can you do with the "hidden PCMCIA slot" of a Panasonic Toughbook CF-28 Mk3?

If you check out the functional schematic on pg 10 of this: http://t2k.wdfiles.com/local--files/cf-28/CF-28_Service_Repair_Manual.pdf you'll see there are 2 mini-pci slots and 3 PCMCIA type 2 slots. Only 2 PCMCIA slots appear on the exterior so there should be one hidden inside was well. n.b. to PC-...

Re: How to install Sigil?

Unfortunately Sigil going back more than 2 years has required Qt >= 5.4 to build (and run) while the Qt version in MX-16 is 5.3.2
So backporting Sigil for for MX-16 is impractical. MX-17 (now in beta) will have Sigil in the standard repositories.

Re: How to have Freetux TV running ?

Freetuxtv 0.6.8 is now available in the MX-15 Testing repository. It should fix the crashing problem of the debian version. Use the Package Installer in MX-Tools -> Full App Catalog -> MX Test Repo to install it. Please leave feedback if this works for you so we can get this fix in the Main repo.
