Re: wine installation troubles

Tim, Couldn't I just could add winbind to the depends? After a bit more research, the ntlm_auth warning is just another of those annoying warnings, and for most uses of Wine it's not necessary to have winbind installed unless you're using samba/cifs style sharing with authentication. I retract my s...

Re: MX-17: Marble "KDE-GUI" vs. "Qt-GUI" - which one should you use?

Installing Marble with marble-maps, marble-plugins, & marble-data (the latter 2 brought in automatically by marble) will install a total of 85 packages on a new MX-17 install. Installing marble-qt, marble-maps, marble-plugins, & marble-data will install only 17 packages. The difference is al...

Re: wine installation troubles

I booted an MX-17 LiveISO in VirtualBox, updated, then installed wine from MXPI. It went smoothly. It functioned properly except for a warning in the terminal while running winecfg about not finding ntlm_auth , which is found in the winbind package. Installing that cleared the warning, so it probabl...

MX-17 Repository: The Sylpheed thread

Sylpheed 3.6.0 is now available in the MX-17 Testing repository. Sylpheed is a simple, easy to use, lightweight GTK mail client. Sylpheed's GUI is also designed with keyboard-oriented operation in mind, so it's easily usable by both GUI & keyboarding fans. As with any package in Testing, please ...

Re: change page size to 16k?

So far as I can determine, THREAD_SIZE is a kernel macro. You would need to patch the kernel to get THREAD_SIZE on x86 processors set to 16k. It's set to 4k on 32bit & 8k on 64bit x86 processors. The only patch I've seen for this is for very old (2.4 series) kernels. Linux supports larger page s...

Re: Scan2pdf error

I have rebuilt version 1.8.0 for The MX-17 Test Repository. Use MX Tools -> Package Installer -> Full App Catalog -> MX Test Repo to try the upgrade.
Please let us know if it corrects the problem.

Re: Scan2pdf error

I assume you are running MX-15 or MX-16 since the MX-17 version of gscan2pdf is much newer than the one in the bug report you linked. An update to gscan2pdf is now available in the main MX-15 repository. Check for Updates & it should show up. (The US, Italy, & Netherland mirrors have it alre...

Re: How to improve fonts

Are you sure your video is being out put at the native resolution of the monitor? I have seen this kind of blur when, for example, a 1680 x 1050 monitor is fed a 1440x900 signal. The ratio is the same so the picture doesn't look stretched or squished, but the pixels don't match up well. inxi -G will...
