Re: Are the rolling releases became so popular?

In general, rolling release distros require more attention when updating than a standard release does and are a bit more likely to break - especially if you install programs from outside their standard repositories. I'm not saying that they are unsuitable for use, only that you need to look at their...

Re: SYSTEMD : Alternatives.

MX Linux installs using sysvinit by default. Some systemd packages are included as package dependencies but systemd is not in control.

Re: Help with tutorial: As su or as normal user?

I'm pretty sure that the system-wide commands you list need to be run as root, while the ones with --user in them above can be run as a user.
But they're going to fail on MX in any case because systemctl is used to send commands to systemd, and systemd isn't running on MX - we use sysvinit instead.

Re: Freemind Working?

Instead of trying to run the .jar directly, run it from the menu. It works here.
Start -> Office -> Freemind

Re: Today's updates

Debian just pushed a security update to Samba. When building the 64bit packages they used the wrong platform & built it against the debian Stretch libraries instead of the Jessie libraries. Since those libraries aren't available in Jessie (the base of MX-15/MX-16) some of it won't install correc...
